The Ampeg Heritage B15-N is more than an amp. In my opinion it's a masterpiece. I know it's pricey, and I worried about that a lot... until it showed up and I plugged a 77 Fender PBass into it. I have never played bass for that long in one sitting. I'm not kidding. Ever. The 64 channel and bias are so smooth and round, and the 66 gives the kind of punch that made me renege on a decades old boycott of using a pick on a bass line. Now I do it all the time, and you know what? It doesn't make me feel embarrassed any more. I achieved infinite sustain in the high end on some flatwounds. I started fooling around and fat original reggae basslines started rolling out of this thing as if I was a *heck* of a lot better at bass than I actually am in real life. I'm telling you, this thing made me sound how I wanted to sound, and I was shocked to find out just how much of that desired sound could be equipment-related... as opposed to mastery of the touch on the strings or whatever. Basically, this thing represents and instant power up. And a substantial one at that. For what it's worth, I use the unit in a home studio that I only use for projects I'm directly involved in. I focus on Ska, Reggae, Soul, Rock, High Life, and lots and lots of horns. I've played around the world, and have recorded at places like Sound City, Producer's Workshop, and Cherokee. I'm not the best bass player in the world, but I'm a lot closer now than I was before.
