The V57M - Your new "go-to" studio microphone!
In the recording studio, every project is unique. Today you're trashing-out the drum tracks for a punk band, and tomorrow you're trying to fatten-up the accordion for a polka trio. That's why your studio microphone collection is so important. You've got to get the right sound, no matter what comes your way. Many microphones on the market today are specially tuned for a specific application, such as vocals, percussion, or acoustic instruments, but wouldn't it be great to have a "go-to" microphone, capable of capturing any audio source? Your best bet is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone, like MXL's V57M. Its warm, dynamic character gives professional quality results in any situation.

Large, gold-sputtered diaphragm
The V57M's high-quality components provide the versatility home studio engineers crave. The large, 25mm gold-sputtered diaphragm offers enhanced presence, so all your tracks are crisp and well-defined. At only six microns thick, this diaphragm is sensitive enough to reproduce the most delicate details, yet strong enough to handle Sound Pressure Levels (SPL) up to 130dB without unwanted distortion. You can get tight, balanced drum tracks for a solid rhythm section, then point it at a piano for rich, vibrant dynamics. Hang the V57M upside-down in front of a pop filter, and hear what your vocal tracks have been lacking!

Cardioid pickup, Mogami wiring
With a flat frequency response from 30Hz to 20kHz, you get crisp, read more accurate tone with characteristic condenser warmth. All internal components are connected with Mogami wiring for clean, noiseless signal transfer. The V57M's cardioid pickup pattern lets you focus on a specific sound source, while automatically rejecting unwanted noise from the back and sides of the condenser capsule. Combined with the adjustable stand mount (included), you get pinpoint aiming control and isolated, focused tracks. It is much easier to shape your mix when everything exists on its own channel. At this low price, you can outfit the whole studio for multitracking and enjoy the same pristine sound quality across the whole mixing board. This microphone requires 48V phantom power, so make sure your mixer or mic preamp supports this feature.

Professional look and feel inspires confidence
If you want to be taken seriously, you've got to look the part. Duct-taping a stick to a five-gallon paint can and using it for a mic stand won't exactly inspire confidence in your abilities. MXL uses a machined brass barrel for the V57M, giving a solid feel and distinct look that projects an air of professionalism in your studio. When your clients see the steel-mesh grille and classic lines of this microphone, they'll want to bring their best performance.

Be sure and buy the shock mount with it, $10 more now or $35 later. Only wish it were tall enough that I didn't have to use a mic stand with the shockmount.
