"Needs work!"
It needs work. Would do the job for small DJ rigs, but not for live music. It's just too weak to handle a bass guitar or kick drum. I wouldn't count on it though, as it overheats easily.
Sound
The sound is ok. Doesn't have the punch I thought it would. Low efficiency speaker. I don't think it's made for live music but would do the job for a DJ.
Features
It has a built in crossover and volume controls, clip light, and high pass outputs. Could of had different types of inputs other than just XLR's.
Quality
The box is made well, but could use a better amp and speaker. The amp says it's 500 watts which doesn't seem accurate. But this could be because of the low efficiency speaker. The amp also overheated on me during a jam. It was VERY HOT! I thought it was going to blow up. Needs a cooling fan.
Value
This is alot cheaper than any other powered sub in it's price range.
Manufacturer Support
I'll give the support a dead center 5 because I never dealt with them.
The Wow Factor
I sold this sub, so I guess that means I don't want it.

"Secrete sub audio weapon for home theatres."
Low Dollars + Quality real Celesteon speaker driver + "Carver" quality amp = I can't beleive the audio file magazines haven't picked up on this secrete weapon. Disclaimer: Not Recommended For Apartment Use Unless You Want To Meet All Of Your Neighbors And The Local PD.
Sound
Home theatre use is one of best places for this value added sub. I have it tucked away behind the couch and it really compliments the other 2 main high efficiency JBL pro speakers and a PAS coaxial center channel monitor. Build this into your next pro home job and it won't disappoint. The amp is silent with out a fan and no hum to speak of. Plenty of chest pounding 30HZ waves(and below)due in part to the butyl rubber suround on the long throw 15" driver.
Features
Didn't need the castors so I left them off.The rubber feet leave black marks on the carpet if you drag it around. Amp is of a "Carver" sonically clean design and turns on automatically with any signal and off automatically with the lack of input signal, after a delay of about 5 minutes. Great feature for home theatre but can be a noticable low thump if you have the signal too low for too long.
Ease of Use
Plug and play ease. Minor adjustments to gain and crossover pots needed at first set up. The home theatre amps have adjustments for all of the other sub line out parameters.
Quality
Cabinet is pro grade period. The 15" speaker is a British designed Celesteon unit with cast frame and long lasting Butyl rubber surround. Even at rage party levels it has never over heated.
Value
Have to give it a 10 here due to the low price vs. sonic accuracy times SPL output times plug and play ease.
Manufacturer Support
About one year in now and the unit is on 24/7 with no need for support.
The Wow Factor
Yea , sure I want another one but I don't need it in the home arena. Two would make any mid size hall thump. Put this under your desk at work and connect it to your PC and get fired. This unit would be well suited to pro installs such as board rooms and small clubs and houses of worship. I do use it for mobile dj parties on ocassion.

"repairs, repairs"
if it would just work consistently, it'd be great...
Sound
the sound is quite good, for the price
Features
has every feature I could ever need
Quality
The stereo/mono switch keeps going out, causing the speaker to fail. been repaired twice in 6 months.
Manufacturer Support
All repair shops in my area have stopped doing Samson service. For warrantee work my options were to ship to NY ($80) at my cost or pay an independent tech ($75). I chose the latter for time reasons. I have never been able to get though to their customer service via phone, leaving countless messages.

"Consider your use of this sub"
Need to find a more reliable sub than this one if you plan on buildinig a pa system for bands, dj'ing, karaoke, or any other live music application. It would be suitable for a stage monitor if you needed more kick on stage.
Sound
Sounds good at lower levels with the controls set right. The high pass crossover makes the Mackie SW450's sound bad and taints the entire setup. These subs need to be run in tandum to get any exceptional benifit from using them.
Features
The variable crossover frequency is nice when the sub is the last in the chain. The LED on the back is helpful to kep it from clipping.
Ease of Use
Having to place it last in the signal chain is a pain. The wheels and adjustable frequency can be confusing for those who have no knowladge of such a thing.
Quality
I have been running a pair of these subs for 2 years. I have had the same problem with both of them. The 4 ohm speaker in them has a maximum of rating the same as the amplifier that is in them. WARNING!! Do not turn this unit on with signal going to it. It will destroy the speaker.
Value
With aforementioned stated problems. It's been more trouble than it was worth. If you want or need a powered sub get the Mackie or the QSC powered subs.
Manufacturer Support
Had to replace the amp in one and they sent me the amp after I paid for it but refunded the cost when I sent the defective one back. The speakers failed in warranty and Samson would not replace them.
The Wow Factor
It wil do in a pinch but definately not suitable for main line production or use. it would compliment a home stereo or home theater well or use in a small venue or room.

"Good buy"
Sound
This sub has a very good sound and this is my second time grading it.
With the settings set properly, this sub has big bass.
Features
The sub having wheels is a great feature. Wheels and low wt. was a
big selling point for me.
Value
It $500 this sub has been a great buy so far.
