I'm one of the guilty ones, never giving their electrics a second look. Their company reputation is certainly cemented in place, from powersports to musical division product. Have enjoyed Yamaha motorcycles & acoustics like forever. Bought the Revstar on recommendation from a Revstar owner, and I'm thrilled that I did. It's everything he promised, and if anything - he actually undersold it. On paper it checked off all the right boxes. In person upon unboxing, from the care and attention to detail on the packaging (beautiful!!), to lifting it out of its styro sack, the neck profile & weight was very much to my liking. Feels like 8.2-8.4lbs - right in my sweet spot. Looks of the vintage white are a hit right out of the park. Heard plenty of excellent sound samples and testimonials to know this thing will absolutely SING. Only change will be to change strings to my go-to D'Addario 9.5's. Thanks once again zZounds (for about the sixteenth time LOL!)

Honestly I have had terrible experiences buying guitars from zZounds.Bought a Gibson Les Paul,a USA Fender Tele that were total crap. This guitar cost 2 to 3 times less and out of the box was actually playable has nothing seriously wrong with it.The tuners are sorta garbage, the nut is cut better than either the Fender or Gibson I bought from zZounds were but is plastic would sound better with bone or tusq. The fretwork is not best I've ever seen, but better than most.Shame on the big companies, for $799 Yamaha hit a grand slam and they can't make a $2000 guitar quality. Its really a pretty decent solid guitar.
