"RS7000 still RULEZ after 10 YEARS!"
Have bought and looked at other hardware and programs, but this one has stood the test of time, even with only one OS upgrade. Still using it to produce, but I'm also using it as a midi controller for the Reason program. Happy I chose the RS7000 instead of following the crowd :-D
Sound
The sound quality of the RS7000 is very clean and digital, the mini keyboard and velocity pads are very responsive! Although a lot of people complain that the stock sound is not so hot, but it's also a sampler, so sample away!
Features
The most useful features are the sequencer, is super tight! The Grid Groove and the Loop remix are amazing! You can use both features on chopped samples and MIDI! These are features that I've just recently discovered on software...this thing came out in 2001! Ha!
My biggest gripe is that you cannot preview samples :-/ But if you like to test your skills you can load random samples, and see what you can make of it! :-D
Ease of Use
RS7000 has a steep learning curve, but it doesn't take very much knowledge to get started. But it has enuff depth that the most sophisticated producer would be surprised at all of the features.
Quality
I got my RS7000 the first week it came out in 2001. The product is very sturdy and has held up pretty well when moving and travelling across the US.
The only wear that it shows is the edges on the casing, which I'm informed is pretty common with the RS.
Value
This machine is nuts and way, way ahead of its time! It has features (in 2001) that other companies are barely catching up to, lol! Easily worth the $1300 I initially paid for it.
I WOULD EVEN PAY A COUPLE OF HUNDREDS AN OS UPGRADE RIGHT NOW!
Manufacturer Support
NEVER HAD TO CALL YAMAHA FOR ASSISTANCE, the RS has NEVER given me any problems, LOL! A solid usable product barely needs help, but if I needed help with functionality, there are are very helpful forums available.
The Wow Factor
Will not trade, sell or get rid of my RS...EVER!

MUY BUENO!!!
...but Yamaha, please, next time give us some more sample memory, and maybe some expansion slots 4 sounds.
Sound
Congradulations Yamaha, you have given me my new wife!
This baby's a monster! Aside from the decent onboard sounds, which by the way are more than you could ever want given the price, you can crank out some amazing sh*t w/ this thing!
DRUMS are fantastic, especially if you tweak them right.
could use a pure sine bass though...
Features
EFFECTS, EFFECTS, EFFECTS!
I am in tweaking heavin! After about 4 months of use, I do believe you can get pretty much any sound you want out of this thing. I produce hip hop/R&B, and I've done the most crips of grooves to the grimiest of beats (ala RZA, Evil Dee) with this thing. Oh man, I'm at work right now, and I'm still drooling over the thought of her...
Pitch change and sample memory are the only things that could be better...
Quality
Wonderful!
Let me say, before this I was programming w/ Fruityloops/Reason, and I thought that it was all relative (software/hardware). But let me tell you, it is worth the extra bucks to go hardware in my opinion. There are certain limitations to software that I can get around in no time w/ my RS.
Value
Got it used for $800, it's going for cheaper now.
Need I say more?!
MPC is $1300 new, $1000 used, and it can't do a fraction of what the RS can do. I wouldn't be surprised if Akai stepped up their game a bit w/ their own workstation, but then again, it's Akai, and it's the "standard."
Manufacturer Support
Never needed it.

"RS7000 WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD (AND PLATINUM)!"
Verified Customer

Whenever Yamaha makes a new machine to replace this one, I'll be first in line to buy it! Until then, I'll keep humming along with this great box. The RS7000 is the centerpiece of my studio.
Sound
The RS7000 has A LOT of great sounds with great quality, and all are tweakable. After I bought this I bought a Yamaha QY100 to sneak and make beats at work, it also has great sounds, some even the RS700 doesn't have, but the RS has the best drumkits. Lots of sounds.
Features
The expansion you have to buy seperately, but since I've gotten it I've grown accustomed to using its SP/DIF and optical ins and outs.
Quality
The only thing I dislike about how it's made is that the paint flakes off a little on the sides from handling (this happened after 2 years of use for me).
Value
This machine is worth every cent that you pay for it and more. Really a bargain.
Manufacturer Support
A few good groups on the internet are available for support. These friendly guys will respond to your questions pretty quickly and completely. The archived messages in these groups are very useful, also. I have never needed to contact Yamaha for support.
I have never needed any repairs or anything, my RS has run glitch-free for a little over two years.
The Wow Factor
This is a fine looking machine.

"THE BIG GRAY HOPE BUY LIVE IT CREATE"
Not sure but as long as I can sample and learn new tricks this won't be going anyy were for a long time
Sound
The sound is great you can also sample your own sounds and use the drums sound in this unit to make good beats, the internal sounds are like the motif, I also own a triton but dont use it much after I got this unit, I also sold my Akai MPC after getting this unit.
Features
The best feature on this unit is the file managemant and saving, unlike the MPC every thing is saved all together and loaded up all together.
Quality
Product is made well wish it was metal, easy to scratch
Value
BIG bang for the bucks this unit was worth it plus more
Manufacturer Support
never needed customer service yet but there are so many web sites that support this unit, plus it is bug free so far
The Wow Factor
It's a keeper I will probly sell My Triton for somthing else becase after geting this unit the triton and the MPC was usless.

"This box has great patches and features, plus a rock solid full featured sequencer that allows for total creativity. Flawless pe"
Sound
The soundset is really great. I like the patches best without a load of fx, although the fx are quite nice. The drums are great ... the only thing missing is an 80's metal kit (good for industrial). The basses are deep and rich; leads are ripping. The box really sounds fresh. I own an Access Virus, Nord Lead, Moog etc. this box is easily in the same leauge .. it's just different.
Features
No accessories. The knobs are very useful. The smartmedia is very useful. The most useful features I suppose are the sample input, which I use as a mono guitar input and vox input when I go live: the board acts as my mixer!! And, the two midi output ports. I can wire up a bunch of synths on the fly.
Quality
The box is a bit shoddy. I bought a case for it immediately. The little plastic keys break easily. Use an external board. The box has two rubber like pads which should be used on the entire box.
Value
I got a great deal on this box. For average retail, I'd say buy the Roland MC909 ... but for the discount price on this box ... Go for it!!! It really is great bang for the buck.
Manufacturer Support
Yamaha provides excellent support.

"Yamaha is the Best!"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I dont plan on getting rid of it.
Sound
Sounds are decent. Not as clean as the motifs or some of E Mu's sounds but sufficient. The ease of use and realibility make up for it.
Features
All the features you need to make music (except a CD burner)!
Quality
Sturdy metal case and tuff rubber coated knobs.Just dont lean on the knobs as you could mess them up (but thats common sense).
Value
Still sell over $1000 and been out over 3 years.Well worth the cash!
Manufacturer Support
Out of any music dealer Ive dealt with Yamahas been the best.Thats why my studio contains a majority of there products.Ive had to call them for help quite a few times and they allways had someone who could help me with my problem.
The Wow Factor
Its the center of my setup, vever fails me.

"RS7000 , you cannot afford to give up on a chance to purchase a machine with so much power and features!!"
I think the only time I will sell this and move on to another machine is when Yamaha releases another version of this product with better features (if possible).
Sound
Sound is important in any musical composition and the Yamaha has what it takes to produce chart toppers hands down. The clarity of the samples provided is excellent and the resampling of samples is unbelievable.
Features
The RS7000 has many features. Most features are displayed on the actual equipment, but there are alot more features hidden within the machine and accessed through different button configurations. Basically all knobs have double or triple features to them. If each feature was assigned to a seperate specific knob, this box would be huge in size.
Quality
The product is made well, however a better paint job would be good. Once you get a scratch on it, the paint will peel very easy because it is painted over plastic which doesnt adhere too well. Making this product using metal would have been better to keep up with the rugged use of the machine by musicians.
Value
This item is a big BANG for its buck. for a fraction of the price, you are getting a machine that can do the same job as 7-10 machines total value 10,000 bux +
Manufacturer Support
I have never used direct support through Yamaha. I find the various news groups and fansites to be the most helpfull in learning this machine. Because of the popularity of this company and its products, it isn't difficult to find online support 24hrs a day and 7 days a week.
The Wow Factor
My girlfriend says it looks old fashion, i think it looks high tech. Each to their own. I think it looks good, but looks are not everything. Its what's inside that count , and you can count on this machine for both.

Yamaha RS7000 Music Production Studio Customer Review
Sound
All I can say (from the RAP standpoint) of this matter is this machine is on of the best ive worked with, and why do I say that it is becuase that it is flexible with whatever you are doing and it is verry inexpensive yamaha is one of the best companies that I have ever done biz with and I will continue to do biz with them. (ONE FROM THE PROPHET)
Features
I use acid pro 4.0 alot because it is just easy to use and it is compatible with it as well as pro tools exc.
Quality
Well I allways wish I could have a back up RS 7000 music production studio and im always learning more and more about it as I use it, and the beats I have produced are real HARD HITERS and are loved by other majure producers such as myself. Yes it is good for road use, and as for the product lasting if you take good care of something it will last as long as you do take care of it. GET A WARRANTY LIKE I DID JUST AS A PROCAUTION LIKE I DID.

Yamaha RS7000 Music Production Studio Customer Review
I see why this machine is not an industry standard. Yamaha could've done better, especially with all the other nice products they have. Some people love it, some people hate. It's not for everyone.
Sound
Features
It has much more features than the MPCs but you can bang on the MPCs pads and it doesn't feel like its going to break. MPC has a better sequencer, better feel.
Quality
Garbage
Value
Already sold after a week.
