"Yamaha Reface DX is INSPIRING!"

For anybody on the fence about purchasing this board - here's my 2 cents. I have owned the Reface DX for about 3 years. It gets used monthly either for spontaneous song writing ideas or for recording in studio. The sound of this thing is as Yamaha describes it - 80s to modern. I would say modern sounding as of maybe 2010? (dub step stuff - meh). But the 80s presets are FIRE! This thing is fantastic! Build is solid. Haven't had any issues at all. It can go deep into the OS menu for sound design if you like. There are not a lot of presets however, I find half of them are very inspiring (that's a win in my book). I will get lost for up to an hour each time I fire this thing up. It is one of my favorite KBs. These days I love to midi it to my Behinger Ob-xa for a little extra flavor. So fun! I prefer to take this keyboard with me (vs a small midi controller) when traveling. Standard big brand alkaline batteries last about 5 hours. It always pulls thru if I have a song idea that I can't just seem to punch into FL Studio with a mouse. Its just inspiring. Did I say that again? If you are a fan of 80s - 90s keys this will definitely get you at least part way there to your sound. I really can't say enough good things about this board. It's heavy.
Sound
Sound quality is great. It def has that 80s sound.
Quality
Its made well and reliable. I have not gigged with it.
Value
I find it difficult to spend $449 on this KB when there are software plugins that emulate the DX7 well for much less money. But there is something to be said for getting this KB reissued from the original manufacturer - that's what got me. I waited for it to go on sale when I purchased.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to reach out to Yamaha for tech support on anything.
