"An excellent keyboard for professionals and beginners. Great success of Yamaha!!!."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Yamaha has made a personal excellent keyboard. It has very good sounds, arpeggiator, pitch bend wheel, EQ, MDB,USB MIDI, and other characteristics that stand out above other similar products of Yamaha. It was already hour that Yamaha created keyboards with modifiers of sounds and recording options for all the musicians that we need of an accessible keyboard, with good sounds, simple options and that it served as basic controller for recording in multi track. It is pleasant to feel that a keyboard brings all that a synthesizer has in a very attractive, cheap unit and of excellent sounds. Also, that the piano sound is very real for this keyboard type that is good to compose music everywhere the whole time.
Sound
Wow!!!, really nice pianos, drums kits, organs, pads and basses. A little less the other sounds, but they can be used a lot. The strings are a little slack. I think that the sounds of this Yamaha are good to record any demo in any moment. Using the control knobs good sounds and arpeggios can be created. Excellent sounds in this keyboard for the price.
Features
Survival Kit offers all the necessary to begin. I find perfect that a cheap personal keyboard has control knobs to modify the sounds and on-board arpeggiator with 50 types. This allows to have an extensive possibility to record songs of all gender. Yamaha has made an excellent work in this keyboard. Of course, has a pitch bend wheel. :-D
Ease of Use
As well as Yamaha PSR-293, this keyboard is easy to use. Everything in the screen accessible and comfortable reading is shown. USB MIDI interface, the best thing.
Quality
The keyboard is very attractive in its colors, maybe a little compact all its panel controls. I consider that this is not restrictive for the quality of this Yamaha. Very good sensation of the keys. The only thing is, maybe, the material used for their construction. Of course, you cannot aspire to have a personal keyboard with aluminum for all sides, but it could improve with a more rigid plastic, although that puts heavier the unit. In few words, enough to carry out their work excellently.
Value
Value?, for what offers this keyboard, their price it's excellent and very accessible. This keyboard can be used as much as for a beginner like for a professional.
Manufacturer Support
Phone excellent support of Yamaha. Very attentive people.
The Wow Factor
I would always buy this keyboard.

"Amazing keyboard/synthesizer ! For hobbyist or pro... some workstation features !"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Features
the product needs a stand and an ac adaptator. The most useful function is the "voice" section, but for learning and rehearsing, a chord dictionnary and a very well done training programm is put inside, it is quite good. I don't use the song arranger and the sound function, nor the styles in normal time, just for fun... But they are good, and a CDROM with other songs is included. You will NEED a usb cable if you want to use the keyoard as an expender, or to use it as a master keyboard (great feature, via usb !) if you have VSTI synths on your computer. It is very simple and the result is simply wonderful. You play, and the sound goes out from your computer ! You can make the contrary too : Play a midi on the computer and make it sound on the keyboard, of course. You can send new midi files to the flash memory (99 tracks) of the keyboard... it is conveniant : If I want my midi rythm box to sound well, I send the midi rythm bow file to the keyboard and it plays it with it AWM quality sounds !!! The result is not great, the result is REAL ! A VERY GOOD KEYBOARD ! The backlit LCD display is very good and well thought. You can see wat you play on a score (useful to write your scores !!), with the keyboards notes pressed, etc... You can even program the metronome to have the time signature (7/8 for exemple !) you want ! When I play technical death metal on my guitar, it is nice to have such a good metronome ! You can tap the tempo, and while you play a style, if you press one time a special button, you will go from setion A to Section B, but if you press it twice in a short time, you can make a drum roll while staying in the same section... it is a little tip I give you ^^. It has a simple but good enough 6 tracks sequencer... I don't use it because I recor it on my computer with a 64 tracks program haha ^^! It can be pro, and it can be a learning tool, or a hobbyis instrument... for a very interisting price !
Quality
Yamaha is well known for desingning GREAT instruments... this one is a brilliant proof of this statement. I use it to go to my rehearsals in a gigbag and I don't have any worry, there isn't any problem on it, it still as if it was new...
Value
It would cost, for it features, about 1000
