"Never have to buy another gig board."
I dont think there is a next purchase for this phase of insturment. It does everything you would ever need for bringing your own show. The next level of board would be in house stationary 32 channel + mixers with offboard power amps. I tell you, for powered mixers, this thing is as good as it gets, which just so happens to be excellence.
Sound
This device makes anything sound great. Not only that, the EMX 5000 has plenty of pure power to handle some big gigs. I use it to power my two Yamaha S215's and it delivers; my bass guitarist plugs in direct and gets more pump out of this board than his full stack Gallien Krueger 15 + 4- 10's. With everything miked up, you can sound like the best for just about any size room. This is by far the best combo powered p/a on the market. I found mine used, not sure if they still make it any more but if you can get your hands on one, BUY IT!

The most reliable mixer I have ever used. I have used it for over 6 years without one problem.
