"If you want the best, buy this kit!!!"
I think this kit will be the last one i'll ever need!!
Sound
I looked at every E-kit on the market and I have found Yamaha to be the best at any price! The sound is great, just plug it in and play. I use this kit for church and no longer do I have to hold back! Thier are so many features, that I will never use, but if you wanted it is never ending. I have started using this kit for playing out, and it is so great to just plug it into the P.A. pick a kit and jamb! The soud out of this kit is better than you would get out of any acoustic kit, without having high end mik's. The only thing that would make this kit better is, internal wireing, and it is kinda hard to transport, but well worth the effort!!
Quality
It's a Yamaha- No need to say more
The Wow Factor
I could NOT wait to get this kit!!

""I have over 50 complete drum kits in my bedroom and still have room for a bed"!"
I will play this thing into the ground, and then pray Im good enough to buy another one. The Yamaha DTExtremeIIS is tops for at home practice and play, even if you prefer acoustic kits, because your hours of play only brings a ringing to your ears and not the cops at your door bell.
Sound
The authentic acoustic sounds are high end. The only knock is the cymbal(s) triggers need more sensitivity at the default level. kind of a hassle to keep adjusting sens/trggr for every kit used. Can cause me to really hit the cymbals hard to ensure ther are no "dead spots" durng play. But other than that, New Acoustic,Maple,Beech,to Latin, African, Jazz, cant beat that variety of sounds in acoustic unless your a millionaire!
Features
Love that Ive had it a year and still learning all the functions and features. Just now starting to play around with the bells and whistles. Wish the base pad was bigger diameter, but it does the trick. The stands, mounts, and clamps are good quality. The skeleton's (rack) durability is yet to be determined as i have not moved it since set up. I love the snare (12") being independant on a stand instead of attached to the frame!
Ease of Use
Set it up, plug it in, and play your a** off! endless practice time as headphones cure the noise, and drown out the wife! The clickety clacking of sticks and bangers on rubber only bugs the family, and not the neighbors. Plug cd player into input jack (conveniently located at front of the brain), control volume of input independant of your kit, and your a rock star!!
Quality
Cant complain about anything, as nothing has broken, cracked, scratched, dented, or deteriorated.. And Portnoy I am not, so there have been more than a few fractured sticks on the cymbal hubs, and pad frames. Multiple triggers on the ride and #1 crash, and the rims of all toms allows for a Neil Peart type of set up if thats what u desire! kick pad is starting to show wear from felt banger
Value
Over five grand for a Roland, and around 2 for the DTExtremeIIS. I used to be a "Demo Rat" at the music store playing the high end Roland kit. I like my Yamaha better, and only visit the store now to buy accessories.
Manufacturer Support
Deal with Dan at Gramma's Music and Sound in Albuquerque, no need to go further
The Wow Factor
Its a little techno in appearance, and some brass color (bottoms if anything) on the cymbals on any electronic kit would appeal to a rocker style of drummer to give it a authentic look. But the rack, snare and toms look awesome. Rack allows for a banner or other band name and still displays the "Yamaha" logo, which also gives the kit instant credibility.

"These are the BEST Electronic Drums on the Market."
Verified Customer

I'm planning on keeping these drums for a long time. I can't imagine needing anything more or anything better for a long time. I'm very happy with these drums and I plan on banging on them for years to come!
The thing I like the most about them is the quality of the sounds and the feel of the kit.
The thing I like least about them is... (I can't think of anything).
I think they're great and I'm so glad I bought them.
If they were lost or stolen, I'd buy them again. (but I hope no one steals them! Although, if they did, they be stealing a really good quality set of drums!)
My only real complaint about these drums is that they don't come in PURPLE!! Roland used to make a purple set. Yamaha should make these drums in PURPLE!
Sound
I think the sounds are great and combined with the feel of the impact on the drums and cymbals.... wow! I think the sounds in this kit are superior and more "usable" than in the most expensive Roland kit. The Roland mesh heads tend to wear out and need to be replaced, but these Yamaha rubber pads are just about indestructable. I have done some recording with my drums and they sound studio perfect run direct into my Yamaha Digital 4-track. I love the variety of sounds in this system... there are so many cool features on this kit and I've not even gotten very deep into it. Most of the time I just turn them on and play. As of now, I normally just play them through headphones and that sounds great, too. Over all, I'm VERY happy with my Yamaha Electronic Drums. I'm very impressed. The reason I gave the over all sound a "9" instead of a "10" is just because I think the sounds on the cymbals should trigger in a more realistic way. For the most part, they're GREAT, but like, if you try to do a roll on a cymbal, as you would at the end of a song, you hear the things Re-triggering, so it doesn't sound normal. But that's just a small thing. Over all, I think these drums are GREAT! I love 'em. And they were worth every penny I spent on them. I've always been a "Roland" guy.... but over the last few years I've noticed all the Yamaha stuff I'm beginning to own. Yamaha 4-track, Yamaha Acoustic Guitar Processor, my DTXtreme Drums, and a Yamaha Keyboard (which I used to make my New Age, Ambiant music CD (Scenes from a Nightmare)... all recorded directly into my Yamaha Digital 4-Track). Yamaha really makes some good stuff. BUY these drums! You won't be disappointed.
Features
The drums came with what ever comes in the boxes, the entire kit except for a bass drum pedal (although I got a Yamaha pedal at the same time I bought the drums), sticks, and a throne. Everything else is included. The most useful features are the very usable sounds, realistic drum sets! The least usable features are those goofy extra sounds, like the voice that yells, "Funky!". I can't see ever needing that.
Quality
Great quality. All the drums and cymbals are very durable, almost indestructable. The impact feels good and I love that these drums do not turn my drum sticks into wood shavings and saw dust. I've been pounding on my drums for a few months now and my sticks still look like brand new! I think these drums are great for home and studio use. I've never taken them on the road or out to clubs, but being as lazy as I am, I wouldn't want to tear them down and set them up over and over.
But over all, these things seem like they'll last a very long time. I'm impressed with the quality.
Value
WOW! YES, this product is WELL worth the price. It's worth the price on it's own, but also when compared to anything else like it out on the market.
Manufacturer Support
I said 5 because I haven't had to call Yamaha yet about any of their products, so I don't know how they are to work with. Every Yamaha product I own works great, seems very durable, and I've not had any problems with any of their products as of yet. It's top notch stuff. So I haven't had to contact Yamaha yet. None of my Yamaha stuff has ever needed service.
The Wow Factor
I knew from the first time I sat down and tried out this kit that I HAD to have it. It took a while, but eventually I took the plunge and bought it. It was a lot of money, but every time I sit down to play it, I think to myself that it was well worth the money and since you get about 140 drums sets (instead of just one), it's a good value. It's a good looking set and it's comfortable to play. I also like the size of the pads.

"Happy with a State of the art electronic drum kit."
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I will use this product on the road and on my next CD.
Sound
The sound quality is very good and it mixes very well with other sample sounds. I use it with Yamaha and Korg keyboards, which make a live gig sound like a production CD. My Peavey sound system also complements this drum kit with it's punchy low end that realy makes the kick drum sound full. The only thing is, you have to set the trigger on the kick drum correctly if you want fast action with your foot. This however is an easy edit.
Features
I looked at the most expensive Roland and I like Roland products but the best item on the Yamaha system is the three trigger system on the cymbles and drum pads. Three triggers can be grouped together for a stacked sound or separately for a variety of sounds. The flexibility of this system is the best for overall flexability.
Quality
Yamaha drum hardware is not my favorite. It seems as though it has soft metal. So I got a TAMA double kick and Hi Hat for the hardware. The other hardware on the drum stand works fine.
Value
It beats features/price as compared to the most expensive products hands down. The trigger system is the best at any price.
Manufacturer Support
Other Yamaha products I have were supported very well. I have had no need for support for this product yet.
The Wow Factor
I GOT it!

"Unleashing that rockstar in all of us!"
I expect this to be a lifelong love. I am sold on Yamaha drum kits after this one. The mesh kits by roland are nice, but not worth the extra money and hassle.
Sound
The sound on this kit is excellent! You can tweak it, sample it, and tweak it some more. Then if you connect this with Guitar Rigs 2, you will be amazed at the sound quality you can create. Guitar Rigs 2 takes this drum kit to the max! Unbelieveable setup for such an great price.
Features
There is not a feature on this set I don't love. You can play any style. The only complaint I have is I wish it was easier to add additional cymbals, but yamaha triggers are harder to find.
Why get a Roland kit when you can buy two of these kits and have so much more to use. I plan on getting another set so I can have a full circle of drums around me.
Ease of Use
The advanced features of the module is the only thing you will need to read the manual on. Everything else is super easy just to fiddle with and figure it out. I even tried to send the midi signals out to my Korg Electribe ESX, and I was able to trigger that through this kit without too much trouble.
Quality
But what I love most about it, is having kids around, I don't have to worry about them poking holes in mess, or damaging them in anyway. My 1 year old daughter loves to play on my set, and she can't hurt it. It is of course not bomb proof, my 5 year old needs supervision, but that goes with anything they do.
Value
For the money and what you can do with it, and its durability - I would say it is top notch.
Manufacturer Support
No trouble on anything at all. FLAWLESS!
The Wow Factor
I would not consider it sexy, due to the cable visibility, and the way the rubber gets dirty looking quickly. But, I guarantee I have not had a visitor to my house that did not sit down at the drums and start playing on it. Drums are usually pretty intimidating to people, but not this kit. It just feels right to sit at.

"An Xtremely good set"
I will keep this set for a long time, if not forever.
Sound
This kit sounds awesome--sound quality is great. It is not as responsive as an acoustic (obviously), and this can be a problem if you switch between this and an acoustic set as I do. I have not toted it around as of yet so I can't say how it sounds in different settings, but in the setting I'm in right now it sounds great.
Features
This product doesn't exactly include a huge bag of goodies, and as I didn't know that it didn't include a kick pedal I had to go back to the store a couple times. Watch out for that! As for features, I'm still discovering more every day--they are great! I'm not sure about any annoying features, but I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to things like these.
Quality
It is made "Xtremely" well. I have been using it for 6 months, for about an hour or more a day (I'm also into a lot of other things, otherwise I'd use it a lot more!) It is very tough and reliable. As for mobility, it took me about 20 minutes to take it down and about 15 minutes to set up. I purchased a carrying case (a generic plastic box) which gives it a little more freedom to move, but not much. This set shouldn't move around very much. This is the only reason I gave it a 9 in this catagory. If you don't need to move it around very much, then it is great in this catagory. It should last anyone forever.
Value
This is a great value! If you want to go digital, then this is THE SET to get.
Manufacturer Support
I can't say, as I haven't had any problems yet!
