"Amazingly awsome. Can't go wrong for the price."
One tip for everyone wo owns one. After EVERYproject you do, defrag. your drive and optimize the song you were working on. This will save you HD space and keep your Aw4416 bug free and as stable as a rock.
Sound
Um, where should I start. Bought this BEAST for $1500. It took me a good month to wrap my head around all the amazing features and now it is all great studio time when working with singers, guitarists, and my own Trance and House music. Everyone says this thing sounds amazing, even my tone deaf freinds. The sound quality is truly great for this price and concidering you have dynamics AND eq on EACH channel along with two effects blocks, how could you go wrong?
Features
The only reason why I give features a ten is because the damn thing should be priced at least $2500. But no, it is priced a grand less than that. Heh, how could you go wrong? Editing could DEFINATLY be better though. Slowly but surely Yamaha will prevail, I have a feeling.
Quality
Of the utmost quality. The faders, buttons, and knobs are all of professional grade quality. No flimsy breakable buttons or knobs here.
Value
Enough said above about the value of this monster. You get what you pay for right? Not in this case, you get MORE than what you pay for.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to use th support but I candefintl say I never recieved my OS update that I requested BUT, they did send me the 10 free CDr's that they promised for registering it. Can't go wrong on that deal. Just download OS2 and burn it to CD, took me about 20 min. to update mine.

"this is the only digital recording desk you'll ever buy"
would be satified with this product for a long time to come, but would be good if optional extras were a little cheaper to make upgrading from the basic model quicker.
Sound
this unit can't be faulted, beautiful crisp clean recording. and when muted or clear the channels produce absolutely no hiss.
when it comes to mastering the yamaha w4416 comes top trumps. it is a pleasure to use and so much fun.
Features
menu pages are easy to remember and find, automix function is a favorite of mine as you can call up changes on dynamics, effects, and EQ on each individual channel and motorised sliders make mixing easier during the mastering stage. one down side would be the recording level on mastered CD's as i find this just a little quieter than it could be. overall a very easy machine to work with and experiment with.
Quality
top quality, well designed and looks great. possibility to back up to computer is a bonus and easy to do.
Value
professional equipment at a good price
The Wow Factor
looks great and layout is just in the right place when you are looking or it

"An amazing piece of equipment!"
Sound
The sound quality is excellent. The onboard preamps are passable, but a good outboard pre will improve the sound (and offer more flexibility). The optional Waves plug-in card really takes it up a few notches. Amazing! Sell your blood if you have to, it's worth it.
Features
The features are many. The automix is well-designed and can be used in several ways. It really is the backbone of the 4416 mixing environment. The internal effects are quite good, with a nice variety. The dynamics processing is also good. The editing, while somewhat slow because it is done numerically, is amazingly effective with some practice.
Quality
The construction is very good - solid, with high quality parts, especially the faders. The os updates seem to address the rather infrequent bug issues. Somewhat irksome is the internal battery which presumably would need replacing at some point. This seems to require authorized service. The cd burning is slow, but all of these issues pale in comparison to the feel and sound of this innovative and infinitely flexible unit.
