Like anything electronic these days (computers, TVs, Stereos, etc.) this amp will become technically obsolete as more and better features are packed into newer amps. In retrospect, there is an argument for buying a good, basic, tube or solid-state amp with up-to-date connectivity devices/ports like an effects loop, MIDI interface, effects pedal jack, extra input jack and channel for CD jam tracks or voice, earphone jack, external speaker jack, variable amp rating, etc. If you own a good basic amp, you can keep it up to date without having to replace it by taking advantage of the proliferation of increasingly sophisticated effects sources--which tend to be much less expensive than buying a whole new amp.
Sound
This amp can closely approximate about any amp sound you'd want: Fender-type, Vox-type, Marshall-type, boutique-type, and even accoustic -- along with most popular effects boxes such as Tube Screamer, Vox wah, Univibe, etc. Sound quality is good, but I've experienced slight noise and hiss at some settings, probably a normal result of the amp having a vacuum tube.
Features
Loaded with features. You'll be like a kid in a candy store at first. Eventually, you'll probably settle on just a few settings that you use 99% of the time. Nice to have the choice, though. Foot pedal is extra and pricey--Vox should include it with the amp. An especially useful feature is the variable Watt rating from 5 to 60 Watts. If you're practicing at home and don't want to blow the windows out or irritate other members of the family, you can set the amp at 5 watts and get reasonablly adequate distortion and breakup (brown sound) at low volume levels. This feature and the earphone jack have probably saved my marriage.
Quality
It's an aesthetically striking amp. But I'm not sure how roadworthy it is--probably will require some extra care to to protect it from cabinet dings and grill cloth tears. The electronics (knobs, lights, buttons, etc.) seem reasonably robust and what you'd expect in a decent-quality Asian-made electronic product.
Value
I tried various modeling amps, and this one (and its big brother) gave the most bang for the buck.
Manufacturer Support
No problems with the amp, thus no contact with the company.
