"A lovely little mic"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
A beautiful and very versatile mic which can change its character by using the optional ring which slips over the mic to give you a big condenser sound. Take the ring off and the thing has a flat frequency response, no colour, but very accurate.
Sound
Very clean sounding on acoustic guitar, I use a stereo pair of these mics and they sound amazing. Definitely a step up from the Rode NT2 I was using for recording acoustic guitar in term of clarity and frequency response. If you add the "Ring" to the mic it sounds like a large expensive condenser mic with a little character, very useful for vocals. In short is sounds lovely, have recorded a string quartet with a stereo pair of these mics and the sound was very much like being in the same room with the quartet. The mic is very sensitive to higher frequencies which are off-axis, as it has a very wide polar pattern, so mic placement is important for the best results.
Ease of Use
Plug it in and go. You need 48v phantom power of course. The signal is a little lower than with most large condenser mics, so you may need +5dB more gain than you would normally use for a particular situation. Very quiet mic though
Quality
Very solid and well made, comes in a wooden box!! very nice indeed. Visually it looks great. This mic is a quality mic, better than most small condensers.
Value
Excellent value for money
