I just moved from a space where I could crank a twin reverb at max volume to a smaller apartment with elderly neighbors, and bought this to be able to use all of my tube amps and record in near-silence. I was considering a Captor, but the inflexible impedance configurations made it a no-go with my amps ranging from 4-16 Ohms. I was close to buying an OxBox, but this lovely Reload update was announced and I decided to wait a little more for reviews. Youtubers showcased all of the great features of the Reload, from versatile i/o settings, stereo effects loops, etc. and made me decide to try it. Boy am I glad I trusted them on it. The paired Genome software makes cab emulation easy and sounds incredible! As a comparison, I tried out the V30 1x12 open-back cab sim with an Orange lunchbox amp and also recorded an identical amp with an sm57. The difference was negligible, if not leaning in favor of the Reload/Genome combo. Recording is a breeze now and practicing feels livelier than with modelers. To top it off, the Reload is analog, which allows you to use it without depending on any proprietary software that might end up deprecated down the line. I’m wanting to try the attenuation and stereo effects live, but for now I’m having a blast in my apartment. Thanks Two Notes!
