I recently bought my dream amp (Mesa Mark V 35) and did a lot of research into attenuators and direct recording solutions. I've been a huge fan of Two Notes and as a long time Opus user I knew their products are pro level so I landed on the Captor X+. Very glad I did. As an attenuator:There are two reduction settings that are useful for home and live use. The lowest setting really does get whisper quiet, allowing you to get some fantastic power stage impact while being very manageable volume wise. The mid setting does the same but brings things to a level where my amp can be used live, again with more power stage breakup without blowing out the room. Tonally, you lose nothing. Never before have I experienced an attenuator that translates the original amp tone through the speaker like the Captor X+. Totally transparent. As a headphone interface:Two Notes has done an incredible job with their DynIR cabinets. I use many different ones in my Opus and they shine through Captor X+. The Torpedo Remote software allows for incredible Tonal adjustments and has the same stereo tracker that is included in Genome. Sound is massive and pure. As an XLR out:The signal sent from the stereo (or dual mono if you wish) XLR outputs are equally pristine. Recording to my interface results in just a beautiful representation of tone and the ability to send a different signal from each channel is incredibly useful. Overall, this unit is a must for me. Fully satisfied. Side note, I've been impressed with Two Notes as a company and have had many great conversations their people in France. Always accessible and genuinely interested in their client's needs.
