First, I'd like to thank zZounds for allowing me to buy top tier gear and pay over time WITH NO INTEREST. If you pay your monthly payments and communicate with them when need be, they will work with you. I've never had any problems whatsoever with the good folks at zZounds. zZounds' customer service is next to none and I speak from experience as I've purchased many guitars both acoustic, electric and tons of gear over the last 10 plus years. *Now for my Review of the Taylor 815 Legacy. Before Andy Powers took over Taylor and introduced the V bracing, Taylor guitars had a beautiful HiFi sound to them. I understand the V bracing and trying to get the Taylor models to sound more like a cannon like another guitar company but, I really missed the sound of Taylor guitars with the old X bracing. That being said, this is why I bought the Taylor 815E. This model sounds more like older models did which I love. I've always loved jumbo guitars for the volume and overtones produced. The 815E Legacy has that sound in spades. The upper treble tone is crystal clear while mids are slightly scooped and bottom end is prominent with tons of harmonic overtones but not so much as to overpower the treble response. The neck is super smooth and so easy to play with little effort. Since the 815E is a jumbo body size, you'd think that you would need to push harder and exert more energy because of more square area on the spruce top but not with this particular model. Most jumbo guitars need more energy expended from the player to get the sound loud but surprisingly, the 815 does exceptionally well played lighter. She also sounds great when fingerpicking is used. The overtones that the 815E achieves is very impressive. Harmonics are very easy to pull out of the Taylor 815E acoustic electric guitar. If you're an electric guitarist, you're going to settle right in with the 815E because if it's easy playability. The build qualty of this 815E acoustic electric guitar makes it a keeper for me plus the LR Baggs Element VTC active electronics set her apart from other models. She's got a really full organic sound because of the electronics. I did end up putting Martin 80/20 extra light gauge strings on (80/20 phosphorus strings stay brighter longer than other strings), and I adjusted the neck/action to my liking. You can get the action super low on this model which makes it effortless to play. Another notable feature of this guitar is it's absolute beauty the woods used and the unique mustache bridge shape. I wasn't sure if I would really like the bridge build on my 815E but, it goes really well with the jumbo sitka spruce top. When I received my Taylor 815, I went over her and inspected the 815E from to bottom and could not find a single problem with this guitar. Another thing to take in to consideration is the fact that she's a Legacy model which equates to a very limited number of units built in one single year, 2024. That could mean that the value of this guitar may/will increase over time in value. Whether she increases in value or not, that remains to be seen. Regardless, you'll still have an outstanding instrument which like me, you'll want as a keeper.
