There's not much currently made to compare this to, and everything else isn't nearly as good. It lacks some features, like track seek, of decks from the height of cassette sales, but few would be buying this unit today to be their primary or only music player. I do use it to listen to pre-recorded cassettes, to digitize tapes. and to record. It does all of those very well. Great sound, and unbranded NR is enough. Besides, a little hiss is almost desirable; nostalgia is part of the game, even if practical use still also is.
