The sound of these drums are what I expected from tama, The kit has tight sound when tuned right, Vary responsive I use Attack heads on snare and toms, And evans g4s oon the bass. great live or studio.

The features of this kit are great, the tom holder slide is great, Nice lugs and rubber backing on shells for great tone and sustain,

Vary easy to tune great sound!

the drums are made well, But I had a Problem with my rims the manufactoring cuts had defects, Besides that the Quality is good.

The kit arrived quickly from Zzounds and was packed well at the factory. Everything went together very easily. The antique brown birch looks amazing and the interior stain ia an upgrade touch. For the price and sound you would have a hard time beating this kit. Hardware is heavy-duty and designed to look awesome with any finish. Easy to tune up and set up. Toms are set for a right-handed player so I had to adjust the star mounts for a leftie. The tom mount is innovative. You will not be disappointed and Zzounds is the ONLY place to buy from. I got personalized support I did not receive from 3 other businesses. BUY HERE!

I probably won't be buying another set for a while. The only way I get rid of this set is if I get enough money to buy a Tama Starclassic Bubinga set. Until then, I'm not trading this set for anything. Compared to most sets at this price, I haven't seen anything that sounds better

Absolutely amazing!!! This set it so under-rated!!! Right out the box it sounded amazing but I slightly tuned it to my liking and it was the sound I've always been searching for. Didn't even change the stock heads either!!! I had a performance 2 days after I received the kit and had the kit mic'd up. My God, it was breathtaking. There was a professional drummer at the event and after the show he came to me and said that it was one of the best drums he's played on ever. He said he hasn't had a drumset "sing" to him in a while.

I only got the shell kit but the tom mounts are awesome!! Really help the drums resonate.

This drum set is amazing for its price I added on another bass dru, a floor toom and two smaller toms I couldn't ask for a better cleaner sounding drumset.... this is a must buy!

"Buyer"
I just got mine yesterday at G.C. in the matte finish with an extra floor tom, and only got to play on it for about 15 minutes, but Wow! I traded in my Superstar Hyper-Drive kit (which I could never get to sound good (except the B.D.) and have no regrets. The guys in the drum dept. were kind of making me question my decision cuz they really liked the Suerstar (Vintage Nickel sparkle), but I clearly made the right choice. On top of that, they had it as a floor model so they put a nice set of Remo heads on each drum ( a $150 value at least) AND I didn't have to deal with all the empty boxes. I was hoping to get a used Starclassic, but this one is definately a keeper, especially since there are only 80 of them worldwide according to TAMA. Like some of the other reviewers, I've had a lot of different kits over the years: Premiere, Gretch, Yamaha, DW, Pacific, but I've always liked Tama.

My xmas gift for my self this xmas (11/30/12). This vl52ks tama silverstar drum kit was so amzed me... actually my first option is pearl drums... but when i watched and read all the reviews, all my plans was changed... and no regrets.. this kit is soooo stunning and the sound is very stunning too... i dont see any down side... really... hardware, shells, sounds... Like I said, I'm completely satisfied. To each there own as far as tone and preference but for the money and tone produced from a live kit such as these birch beauties, I'd buy them again.
