I own a 70's Ludwig maple classic series .blue /olive badge with 402 snare and huge power toms and 24 inch kicks drums .carmine appice/ Bonham kit..But now i got the Tama Star classic perfomer 100% birch fusion kit.same colour as that snare in review . I was floored by the tonal quality of the kit .The toms emit a perfect tone ,the whole kit around ,balanced and even in sustain .with emperor clears on toms .great attack and tone ,the 20 inch kick drum ,took some getting used to ! I just use a felt strip with a clear pin stripe ,to open up the sound ! cause i like a big kick drum .for a 20 inche kick , mic up live .its gut thumping! The secret weapon of the whole perfomer star classic kit ,has got to be the snare ! It just blew me away . I have the 402 Luddy and this 5.5 is sharper in attack and bites ya ears right off , I will exploit the rim shot of this killer snare ..be aware dont come in the room with some live presence ,it will demolecularise your hearing ! this snare would make Gene krupa go crazy .. In conclusion ..the star classic 100% birch perfomer kit is a tonal orgasm to climax any kind genre of music .
