After 45 years of drumming, my snare drum tastes have changed. I've been experimenting with "poppy" snare drums for a while and the Tama SLP Mod Bubinga is the bomb! Not only can you get that deep pop, but you can also tune it to a nice "gunshot" pop with a tad of ring...just the way I like it. My only criticism of this drum is that Tama quality has taken a slight dive (kind of like the mid 80's). The rims are chromed but probably only one or two plates. The lugs are the same as you can see the imperfections of the steel in both. Other than the drop in qulaity, this is a great snare drum for that unique sound.
