"Great guitar for the money paid. I will be proud to play this guitar for years to come."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll keep this for life, then will to my sons. I've compared to other brands, but purely based on price vs sound quality, this is a great deal. I've tried Taylors, Martins, and Gibsons - good guitars without a doubt, but you pay a lot more for them. If I lost it, I'd buy another one. What I like best is the sound. What I like least - haven't figured that out yet - perhaps the strings that it comes with, but that's just a personal choice.
Sound
No doubt, this is best sound of any guitar I own. Nearest best I have is a blueridge, but it really doesn't even come close. With the cool tube pickup - absolutely awsome tone when amplified. When not amplified, still a great sound.
Features
cool tube amp. may be best in the buisiness.
Ease of Use
pretty easy. Just follow the guidebook that comes with the guitar, and you can figure it out without too much trouble.
Quality
Still fairly new. Seems to be very well make. Takamine has a good rep I think. Of course, as with any guitar, you need to take care of it. I bought this with a humidifier since I've had an accoustic guitar crack in Canada's dry winter climate (different brand).
Value
Yeah, I looked at the Takamine retail price and bought this for $1,000 less. With the cool tube pre-amp, that's a good deal.
Manufacturer Support
Can say! Haven't had to deal with manufacturer warranty. Dealer was more than helpful when I purchased.
The Wow Factor
Nothing really overdone on this guitar as I've seen on other brands. Takamine stayed with the basic look. What I like about this guitar as far as aethetic appeal is the blonde top with dark sides and back. The headstock is quite cool as it is stained very dark and really punches out the logo. Tuners are good with amber abalone - never seen that look before - very nice. Again, what sets this guitar apart from others in coolness, is the cool tube pre-amp.

"Takamine Tan16C On Stage or Recording"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I bought this guitar when they first came out with the Cood Tube. I paid a very marked down price as they were promoting the guitar and wanted to get a few sold into the market. New price is now about $1,000 more than I paid. The price I paid was a steal for the quality of guitar. I use it for both live performance and recording. It excels in both cases. I commonly get comments from professional sound guys about how great the guitar sounds.
Sound
I've always liked the tone of Tachanimes, which is why I wantted to buy one. The rosewood back and sides gives the guitar a rich sound that can be lacking in other guitars with different woods. I've picked up Martins, Gibsons, and Taylors of similar retail value, and the Tachamine shines against all of them. I oftern look for my next purchase, and have yet to find anything of similar value that makes me want to give up my Tach.
Features
I've had no issues with any of the hardware. The cool tube just adds another dimension to the sound when plugged in. It can be dialed down to get the full rich tone, or dialed up to get the warm tones without losing the richness of the guitar.
Ease of Use
This guitar is very playable. I use it in live performances, either with an accousting amp, or plugged thru a DI box into a PA system. Sound guys are often a bit shocked at the punch the guitar has compared to others. I've also used the guitar unplugged and miked for recording, it is just as clear and rich as when it is plugged in.
Quality
So far I've had no issues with the guitar. With the cool tube, you get about 14 hrs of plugged in time on the batteries. You do have to make sure you unplug after playing, or the batteries will drain. I keep a spare set of batteries in my guitar case at all times, just in case. The short battery life is a very small inconvenience for the benifit that comes with the cool tube. I did have some issues with the jack, and the initial repair that was done by the dealer was inadequate. I went to a different shop that I trust more than any to get a good repair, and have had no issues since.
Value
I believe it is. I've tried other guitars in similar price range and have yet to find a guitar that I would want to replace this one.
Manufacturer Support
I have yet needed to deal with Tachamine regarding warranty issues or any other service.
The Wow Factor
Highly desirable guitar. Good sound and with cool tube, it is unique. I wouldn't want to be with out this guitar.

"Belongs with the Big Dogs!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've never had another guitar I enjoyed playing as much. About 60% of my playing time is on this guitar, 30% on the Taylor, and 10% on one of my other guitars.
Sound
So often, quality of sound is compared to a Taylor. I have an 814CE, as well as a TAN16C. Unplugged, I give a slight edge to the Tak. Plugged in, the Tak still sounds unplugged, if adjusted right. Taylor's expression system is good, but string balance isn't perfect, and the low notes lack the sustain that the Tak provides. I think the pickup has more to do with this than the preamp, although the CTP-1 is awesome. Love both of my guitars, but the tak has the sweeter sound overall, at a lot lower price. If Takamine keeps this up, Takamine will be the standard against which other guitars are compared.
Ease of Use
Not as easy as the Taylor, but close.
Quality
Very solid feel on this guitar.
Value
Haven't played every brand out there, but this guitar has the best sound I've ever played. So what is that worth?
Manufacturer Support

The Wow Factor
Not the best aesthetics, but very good for the price. This is the guitar you want if sound counts above all else. For sexy looks, get a Dean. For understated elegance, this it it.

"Simply awesome guitar. One of the best."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I think I will keep this guitar for life. I looked around for a while and wanted a guitar that will last me a very very long time. I am positive that this is the one.
Sound
The sound was absolutely fantastic. Accoustically it sounded just as good as a $4500 Taylor that I compared it to. I tried lots of guitars but some were too bassy and others just to much clarity without the oompth. This guitar has great clarity and enormous depth accoustically. Also amped up, I believe it has one of the best pickups. When you turn the cool tube up the sound really rocks the house. Simply awesome.
Features
Not sure how to answer this question. All I got was the guitar itself and nothing else. I suppose it doesn't come with a case which will set you back a couple of hundred bucks or so. It does have an inbuilt tuner though that I think is awesome and you can also mute the guitar while tuning if you're playing live.
Ease of Use
This guitar sounds so good with everything on the amp set at 12 o'clock. From there on it's personal taste. You can manipulate the sound as much as you want either from the pickup system or the amp.
Quality
I've only had this guitar for a couple of weeks and it looks beautifully made. All solid timber throughout. No laminate sections. Very well polished and has a slight mother of pearl around the hole. It also comes with a 5 year warranty. Great value for money guitar that in my opinion is just as good as the Taylors which are double the price.
Value
Absolutely. The quality build of this product together with it's awesome sound and cool tube pickup system makes it one of the best guitars out there.
Manufacturer Support
Can't answer this. Haven't contacted the company.
The Wow Factor
Very very sexy. I love it.
