Overall I'd have to say that I'm very impressed with this guitar and if anything were to happen to it I would surely buy another one!! Great looks, great sound, well built, a great buy for the money you can't go wrong with this guitar!!! And it's a Silvertone!!!!!
Sound
I truly love the variety of sounds that the SSL3 gives me! My favorite is the rythm pickup positon, my crate sounds more bluesier with this guitar. And I really love the way the sound changes the sound of the distortion of my crate! I can hear a little Tom Schulz sound (Boston)!! Overall I truly love alot of the sounds this great little guitar brings to the table!! The pickups are surprisingly quiet and seem to pick up alot of youre playing nuiances!
Features
The little cable that came with the guitar would be good for a switch cable. The machine heads hold very well and the guitar stays in tune quite well!! The guitar overall feels very solid and well built!! The knobs feel very smooth when yoy play with the tone and volume. My only complaint is that I had to go in and solder a wire on one of the volume pots! It was barely hanging on and it was causing a short that you could hear while playing!! Everything else seems to be of very good quality. And I'm very impressed with the pickups on this guitar!!! I didn't think they would sound so good!!
Ease of Use
It's very easy to get a variety of sounds from this great little guitar. I had to adjust the action to my liking was about all I had to do to get started playing it was set too high. The strings that came with the guitar feel pretty good, I'll stick with these for a while
Quality
This guitar is very solid and made quite well! I love the maple top with the cherry sunburst finish, there were a few little cosmetic flaws but nothing to complain about considering the price of the guitar and all you get for that price. I would not hesitate on playing this guitar in front of anyone!! I'd be proud to show it off!! And I think this guitar will last me for quite some time!!
Value
I have to admit that this guitar seems to be as good as the Epi. L.P.'s if not better, whitch are alot more expensive!! I'm just glad the Silvertone is cheaper so I could afford to buy it!! I'm glad that I bought this guitar!!!
Manufacturer Support
I haven't contacted them so far.
The Wow Factor
I actually was looking for a good practice guitar to play around the house with so I could save my Schecter C1 Classic and my Takamine from any wear and tear! And I just so happened to stumble on a great guitar buy!!! I think this beauty is going to sit along side my other little treasures and I'll have to look for another good practice guitar!! And as far as sex appeal of this guitar I don't see how it could hurt my chances considering how good it looks!!

"The review of the instrument by its owner."

I think I will stay with this guitar for a very long time. I will try to keep my eyes on it and take a great care.
I don't give nine because nine for me would be something like a custom made guitar, which would exactly be the way I want. I don't give ten because I don't believe in perfection.
I played an acoustic guitar for some time and always wanted to have an electric one. I started to plan my purchase a long time ago. I wanted to get something very good but for a decent price. Finally, I got it!
Sound
Great clean sound. I compared it to my friend's ESP of the same price range and the clean sound of this guitar was much brighter with many nuances... Good sustain, especially with distortion, note rings for a long time. It has some vibrato effect in it though, when you play chords with some distortion. It is not bad just some might not like it. I personally think that it is not a problem; it even adds some more feel to it. The guitar doesn't go out of tune easily. It stayed in my gig-bag over night and I almost didn't need to tune it again in the morning.
Features
I think it came with a short cable, which is useful with an electric tuner. It had strings I wonder which new guitars don't. The strings are OK but you might want to use the new ones of your favorite brand. 2 knobs for tone and 2 for volume. It is definitely a good ground for experimentation. The guitar itself is a great feature!
All components were in a great condition. Well set, shiny and lovely! I just needed to tight a tremolo/rhythm switch. I guess it got loose during the transportation.
Among others is a set-in neck. I like it because there are no bolts and the body feels very smooth. There are lots of fans of bolt-on as well. It is something you should decide for yourself what is better.
Ease of Use
It is very easy to play this guitar indeed. I like frets and the rosewood fingerboard. No complains here. It is very easy to slide or play taping.
You might need to adjust the action. Mine was a little too low. It was fine for the beginning. I will adjust it a little when I would need to put new strings on.
Quality
This is the most surprising part. Great quality. It says on the sticker that it went through the quality control; so if you want to buy it don't be shy. It will probably come in one piece! :)
There's nothing wrong, really. Everything works great, no repair needed.
Value
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. This is an awesome value. For such price I won't be able to get anything better. I played a real Strat (which is more than twice expensive) and a new ESP, which I mentioned before, and I can surely say that I am very glad that I choose Silvertone SSL3.
Manufacturer Support
I never dealt wit the company and I hope I will never need to.
The Wow Factor
It is a beautiful guitar. Great color and everything. The arched top is not as good as real LesPaul's but it is still a very nice one.
I will repeat other people and say that picture doesn't give you even a half of its beauty.

"Awesome."
I'll play this guita for years to come.
Sound
Great, its an amazing deal when it comes to price vs. sound.
Features
It came with a small 2 ft. cord which can be useful, and i read a review that said the tone knobs do practically nothing.... and thats what the do they might as well be on/off switches.... dont get me wrong its still an amazing guitar!
Ease of Use
Very easy to use, its shorter than most typical guitars and i was suprised in the shape of the neck, it is deeper/rounder than i'd expected.
Quality
I inspected every inch when it first came in, andi was amazed. No blemishes or loose parts at all.
Value
Again, it is a sound vs. price battle and you win in both.
Manufacturer Support
I do not expect to need to call them.
The Wow Factor
My friends are amazed on how beautiful it is.

"You will be surprised at this guitar."

The SSL3 is number 5 in my collection so far. I now have a wide selection of sounds with it and my Rickenbacker 320, Epiphone Casino, Fender Strat., and Martin acoustic. I would not replace my SSL3 with anything. It stays with me.
Sound
The Silvertone SSL3 is my first experience with humbucking pickups. I would characterize the sound as warm, mellow, and great sustain. I use it with a Crate amp and the rich sound from this guitar is so fine. With any pickup or tone combination, this guitar is amazing.
Features
The parts and materials used for the SSL3 seem to be of top quality. To produce the great sound it has, it all has to come together, which it does.
Ease of Use
The SSL3 is very playable. The string height, the easy location of the volume and tone controls, the body shape, the feel of the neck, all contribute to this guitar's easibility to play.
Quality
I am surprised at the quality of this guitar. The cherry sunburst finish is beautiful. Solid with a little weight, it feels expensive. A couple very minor imperfections, not even worth mentioning. If you take care of it, as you should, it will last forever.
Value
The Silvertone SSL3 is worth every penny I paid for it. The look and sound of it could cost a whole lot more.
Manufacturer Support
Never needed any service or support.
The Wow Factor
It's shaped like a Gibson Les Paul. A very desirable guitar that not everyone can afford. The SSL3 is the next best thing. The cherry burst finish is beautiful. The shape, visual appeal, quality, and price, are this guitars features that you want.

"Best kept secret."
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
For the price paid, I don't think there is a better value around---especially as far as les-paul's go. This guitar is very well made. It is durable, it is playable, it sounds good, and it is VERY affordable. Frankly, I get more compliments on this one than any other guitar I own........and it is BY FAR the cheapest one in the bunch. I play it in a band once or twice a week. The other nights I use my $1000 Washburn. Sound-wise, the two are the same. If you aren't moved by the brand-name game that so many people get caught up in, this baby is for you. If you REALLY want a top notch rock machine; buy this guitar, throw some Seymore Duncan pick-ups in it, and some Ernie Ball slinky's on it........then lower the action down and shred!!!!!
Sound
It sounds every bit as good as my Washburn IDOL, and I still use it live once a week........as well as practicing on it.
Features
I don't remember if it came with accessories or not. I love the double humbucker setup. The four independant volume and tone controls give you all the control you come to expect from a les-paul type guitar.
Quality
I have been very impressed with the way this thing has held up. Mine has been knocked around quite a bit (I AM a YOUTH PASTOR), and even dropped and it still keeps rockin'. The tuners hold their tune pretty well. Mine will stay tuned through a "mini-set" of 5-7 songs without much problem.........and I bend a LOT.
Value
This guitar is one of the best kept secrets around. It is just a well-made instrument. Period. Looks and plays like a MUCH more expensive guitar.
Manufacturer Support
I have never had to use them yet.........and that's why I gave them a ten.
The Wow Factor
"SEX-APPEAL"? Whatever. It is a good looking guitar though, no doubt. I have the cherry-burst, and it is a beautiful finish. Get compliments on it all the time.

Features

very playable. Plays better for me than Gibson Les Paul it replaced. Stays in tune under abuse.
Quality
Very well put together. Unusually heavy..I thought my LP Studio was an anchor, but this is lead filled

"If you want a rockin' axe"
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I like the way it plays and looks best. There is a string buzz with the lower strings that shows up when you play without an amp. I had it set up at a local shop to see if they could get rid of the buzz-they couldnt, but assured me that it was not a big deal. I would still like to get rid of the string buzz however. Then I would say I owned a perfect guitar. Now I cannot say that
Sound
The sound is good! Humbuckers whale! Very nice volume controls. This is a great axe for classic rock style-clapton, Page, etc.
Quality
Especially for the money! great workmanship, love the frets-polished/very smooth-no jagged, sharp frets makes moving about-especially those power chords very easy!! Great finish too! I just cant get over how great this guitar is for the price! What else is there to say except I would recommend this guitar to any one at any level of playing.

"Excited about owning a LP style guitar!"
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
For me it is a 10 because I would never pay the money for an EPI or Gibson. Playing is a hobby for me since i have two small kids and do not get allot of time to practice.
I feel 75% of the guitar is really the person playing it, so I have not invested allot in each of the guitars I own. Until I am good enough to make a living playing, I will stick with the lower cost guitars. The SSL3 makes me say wow looking at it. I cannot wait to play it over and over again. I have not said that about any other guitar I have owned in the past 10 years. I hope this one will motivate me to practice and play more.
Sound
I just received my cherry burst SSL3 and it is great. I have never had the chance to play or own a LP or LP style guitar before. I now know why guitarist love these models. Plays blues great. I heard nothing but clean sound playing the guitar through the distortion channel on my basic Fender Frontman 25 watt practice amp. Although I only played it about 30 to 45 minutes last night, I suspect I will NOT need any effects pedals to play this one. I own several different types of used and new guitars. Most are not expensive models. Some are from the 80's. Most of them require a multi effects pedal to get a really clean sound.
I am looking forward to just picking up the SSL3 and just plugging diretly into my amp and playing. My other guitars may need new homes.
Features
This is my first experience with individual knobs for each pick-up. Nice!
Ease of Use
Plays good. I am a strat guy, but enjoyed how this LP feels and plays.
Quality
My nephew got a Gibson LP for Christmas. His is nice. I do not have his to compare side by side, but the SSL3 looks almost exactly like the Gibson he was given. I am proud to show this one off.
Value
NO WAY I could ever justify paying for a LP by EPI OR Gibson, so the value based on inspecting the SSL3 guitar, playing it, and the sound without effects REALLY makes me feel like I paid top dollar. I am so happy I did my research and found this one.
Manufacturer Support
I have not needed any yet. I will trust the service will be good.
The Wow Factor
NICE! I finally have classy looking guitar. All my other ones are solid black, red, or black with pick guards. Very vanilla. The SSL3 is like a piece of art that can take you from Blues to Journey to Black Sabbath easily.

"One Fantastic Guitar!"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I haven't had any problems with things loosening, bending, chipping, etc. And I love playing it (I've had it for about three months). I own three contrasting electrics (and a couple of acoustics: a 6 and a 12 string). I don't see a need for anything else.
Sound
I own a 20-yr old Westone and a relatively new Ibanez SG, both of which cost significantly more and this guitar holds its own. In fact, it has such good sustain and crunch that I use it when I am going for a heavier metal sound.
Features
I love the volume and tone knobs - Very solid and direct. Also, the neck is awesome. It's just one great guitar ($200, what's THAT about??? But I'm glad they do it).
Quality
It's absolutely beautiful - except for a minor paint blemish around the bottom outside edge of the guitar (which you can't see without looking hard for it). Any place that is visible is perfect!
Value
If I could give this a '50' rating then I would, because I truly believe this guitar is worth five times what I paid for it.
Manufacturer Support
I gave it a ten because I HAVEN'T needed it. That's the best kind of support in my book.

"This is a great guitar!"
I'm thinking about buying a new one in maybe 2008.
Sound
If you are a lead for any band or worship group, you gotta love this. It's sound is worth about a $1000 guitar. You'll love it even if you are a beginner, intermediate, or even advanced.
Features
The strings I normally use break down in about 3 months(I use it a lot), but this one hasn't had any problems for over 9 months.
Quality
The finish hasn't scratched even a little yet. On the road, it doesn't get out of tune in the car. I had no time, so i drove my car down to my practice without the caes, but it was still in tune when i got there about 30 minutes later.
Value
It is worth way over its own price.
Manufacturer Support
This company has nice operaters and workers. They helped me get a new bridge on my guitar. It was free for me...Hehe..
The Wow Factor
It has a great feel and the body doesn't bother you whatsoever.

"BEST BEGINNER ELECTRIC GUITAR IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!! BUY IT!!!!!!! OR BUY THREE BECAUSE YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!"
I've been playing this guitar for 3 years now on stage and still love it. Though I have many mods on mine. I am now looking to buy a Gibson Les Paul Standard to replace this one but I really don't think I will be able to get rid of this beauty.
Sound
Sounded good when I got it but it had some wiring problems so I just rewired the whole thing and it sounds soooooooo much better. I highly recommend 50's wiring.
Features
The hardwear isn't going to give you the BEST sound but it is really good stuff and it is better than ANYTHING else in this price range.
Ease of Use
After 50's wiring, I can get just about any sound I want. This thing is really easy to play and if you know what you are doing, its pretty easy to get the right sound.
Quality
ABSOLUTE BEST QUALITY FOR THIS PRICE RANGE!!!!!!!! I guarantee it!!
Value
Worth every penny.
Manufacturer Support
I have never heard from this company and don't want to and don't need to.
The Wow Factor
This guitar is sooooooooooooo much more beautiful in person!!!!!!!! I didn't even want to touch it when I opened it because it was so pretty.

"This can't be a Silvertone..Can it?"
Verified Purchaser
zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
I have already made a home for it. My two guitars are a cheap ..a studio epi but with great pups, great for burnside Kenny Brown slide.. The Silvertone can take me almost everyplace, I esepcially enjoy getting a Junior Kimbrough type sound.
Sound
Let me just say that this Silvertone far surpasses what I exspected. I am no stranger to high end guitars, I kept reading.."buy one before they raise the price or you can't get one." True to what the reviewers said my 3 main outlets each had 1 left.My use for this guitar was truthfully to have a cheapie guitar to perform like the bluesman of yester-year. Thru the either hated or loved epi Blues 30 I got fender squak from the middle out-of-phase great treble high freq from the bridge without blood coming out you ears and even some Gibson Jingle Jangle. This is the 1st time I ever used 9's for open tuning... its to much.. really great. I style is finger picking, just the flesh or fingernails with a slide on my pinky. Just like the others said.. better get one now before they put a Gibson logo on it.
Features
I wish it had nothing different, maybe its too pretty. I'm glad they didn't try to replicate the Gibson headstock because I am proud to be getting such sounds when I gig.
Ease of Use
As I said, 9'-maybe 46. Fast, I don't want to put it down. Comfortable weighted
Quality
To say this is a pretty guitar with no flaws is an understaement uners allows hold, knobs tight even the cable input is holding!
Value
Hard to believe.. As other reveiwers have stated.. better get one while the gettin is good. Last LP I had was a gold top with soabar p-90's.. this one eats the Goldtop alive
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with Silvertone.. have had many acoustics over the years that all held together, altho I don't know where they were made. This is a heavy duty built guitar.
The Wow Factor
Well, honestly I was looking for a cheaply made guitar for gigs..never never exspected this quality of sonics or how well made it it.

"DO NOT PASS THIS DEAL UP!!!!!"
I hope this guitar lasts forever. I would definently replace it with the same guitar if anything happened to it.
Sound
The sound is great. Even with high gain theres no static or feedback. The pickups help deliver a heavy metal sound without the "fuzz" in the background.
Features
I like the short head..... shorter than the Les Pauls (which helps it from hitting things when moving). And the two tone and volume make it so you can set it the way you want it to sound.
Ease of Use
Extremely easy. Plug in and shred.
Quality
The guitar is beautiful. Minor defects.. (chipped fret markers) but hardly noticable. And it doesn't scratch easy.
Value
The guitar is easily worth hundreds more. My friend has a Gibson. He would rather play my Silvertone.
Manufacturer Support
Havent needed it. And that's great.
The Wow Factor
Looks great, plays great, slides easy, and is tough. Great guitar to own.

Great practice guitar...get a Gibson if you want to be Eric C....get an Epiphone if you want to be a 'bug' (ie..Beetle) BUT a Silvertone if you want Silvertone retro to the 60's and jingle in yo pocket...HO HO HO
Sound
Wonderful for the price paid...try it to believe it
Features
Buy it, play it and enjoy it...take yo mother-in-law on a cruise with the bucks you save over a Gibson
Quality
First guitar recieved was sent back for manufacturing defect around the treble/ryth switch (face delaminating around binding edge); second unit received ...much better but similar problem along the binding in a different location; COLOR: 1st unit real cherry w/red ; 2nd unit the "cherry" seemed dark as black
Value
For the price...close to an Epiphone LP..which is close to Gibson LP..."one man's ceiling is another man's floor">>>spend your money and enjoy!
