"Great sound but how do you record a track with it?????"

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm not satisfied.
Sound
Sounds great
Features
Lots of cool features
Ease of Use
Easy to set up and use
Quality
Can't give it high marks on quality. It's only got one octave.
Value
I'd give this about a 5 because of the obvious limitations having only a one octave range. And how the hell do you record a track with this thing????? Haven't gotten it to output audio to track.
Manufacturer Support
Support sucks
The Wow Factor
Just isnt't fully functional.

"Virtual Bass With Only One String"

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Steinberg dropped the ball. Maybe they were behind schedule and the deadline was inflexible, who knows. All I know is that Broomstick Bass does what Steinberg apparently could not, so i'll stick with it.
Sound
The sound is crisp, clear, and authentic. Once in a mix, it can easily fool even trained ears. I would say that it sounds pretty much how anyone who would want a product like this hopes it might sound. It is clearer sounding and more versatile (in terms of electric bass sounds) than Broomstick Bass.
Features
ALl of the features (effects, compression, amplification sim - solid state and tube - etc) are great sounding, easy to use, and well done. So why only a 5? You do not realize until you are using the plug-in that it is incomplete - actually using the plug-in as a virtual instrument gives you about 8 frets worth of sound. That's pretty much it. Basically, that makes everything, all the bells and whistles, all the great fidelity, everything - USELESS - unless you buy it specifically for the use of phrases, which I hardly find a use for.
Ease of Use
If you have difficulties with it, you are probably new to VSTs and compter recording environments in general.
Quality
Again, I praise the sound but give it a 5 on quality - why? Because alot of people who are interested in this kind of product have only marginal to no interest in phrases and loops, and this product is marketed as a VIRTUAL INSTRUMENT, which is only technically true. It is a Virtual Bass with only one string. Not what alot of people paid for. An incomplete virtual bass, no matter how good those few frets sound, is still an example of poor quality.
Value
If you don't mind molding your songwriting to an inflexible pre-recorded phrase, or are just into that sampling stuff I guess its okay. Otherwise, just buy a decent bass and actually play it.
Manufacturer Support
The support forums will get you an answer to your question most of the time, so long as you don't show up throwing a virtual tantrum, but it sure as hell can't restore the missing functionality of this plug-in.
The Wow Factor
The interface looks "neat" I guess, but otherwise its just a piece of software and a dongle. What else is it supposed to be?
