I cannot stress how great this guitar is. I have a few High end guitars from other companies. This compares with them. The neck alone makes the guitar great, very smooth frets no sharp ends, the neck is thick and its thin depending where you put your thumb. So best of both worlds there. The stock OEM pickups can both go bright and go deep. When I play chords I can hear all the notes, no muddy chords. The guitar is light weight, it is very easy on your back. The puzzle piece body shape is perfect for me, you can play it in a normal position or in a classical position with no worries about pinching your instrument cable across your legs. Setup the guitar was easy. It took about 10 minutes to set it up. (All setup info is in the manual or use YouTube). Stock the guitar comes with 10 gauge strings, I have used 8 gauge strings for many years (personal preference). I was prepared to do a truss rod adjustment, adjust the string height and intonate the guitar. I didn't need to do any of that. At the 12th fret high E the string height was 1.25mm and at the 12th low E it was at 1.50mm. Absolutely perfect for me. Especially with a 20” radius fret board. Nice and flat, perfect for fast legato runs. I also really like having regular frets over fanned frets. I have big hands so playing chords at higher frets is not an issue. If you choose to go with the Strandberg Boden Essential 6 you will not be disappointed.

"Excellent Guitar"

I'm an older guitar player in my 60's who plays mostly metal and hard rock. Like most folks in my age group, I suffer from severe arthritis and back problems to the point that it took away the joy of playing for me. My old and beautiful guitars sound amazing but nearly all of them have solid mahogany bodies and weigh 8-10 lbs... Real boat anchors. My back couldn't take it any more so I kind of stopped playing except for my acoustic on occasion. Then I started seeing things about the strandbergs on YouTube and many people praising the lightness, ergonomics and great sound, and the new essential 6 boden had recently come out and players seemed to love them for the most part, so I thought what the heck, and bought one. I'm gonna say straight away that I absolutely love this thing. I love everything about it. It doesn't hurt my back, it sounds and plays amazing. String changes are easier than a regular guitar and the tuning stability is better. The endurneck helps my arthritic hands and wrists feel better. I was worried how it would be but it turned out not to be a big adjustment for me at all. Your mileage may vary. It literally brought the joy of playing back into my life. To make things even easier on my old back, I paired it with a small modeling amp and wireless system and now it's not a hassle to play at all. No cords and pedals and junk to deal with, just strap it on, turn on a couple of switches and I'm playing hassle free! I couldn't be happier.
Sound
You can get a multitude of sounds from these pickups from clean and beautiful all the way up to shred town!
Features
I think that string changes are a breeze and even easier than a standard guitar. And the tuning stability is great.
Ease of Use
I think the pickups in this guitar are an oem suhr design but whatever they are, they sound fantastic to me. They cover the gamut. If you like a wide variety of music they got you covered.
Quality
I had a tuning and intonation issue on my first one that couldn't be fixed by me, I opted to return it and zzounds sent me out another and it is perfect in playability. The action and intonation was great right out of the box with it.
Value
I've been telling everyone who will listen, especially my older friends who also play about how great this little guitar is. Everyone should have one bad back or not, because it's simply a great sounding and playing guitar and travels beautifully too.
The Wow Factor
I love the way it looks personally, but for some it may be an acquired taste.

Musical Background:

I've been playing guitar and other instruments since I was about 10 and I'm almost 63 now in 2025

Musical Style:

As a player I've always been a rocker. Heavy metal and hard rock were always my favorite things to play but as listener, I love

"Excellent entry level Strandberg"

For this being an “entry level” Strandberg, it’s really well built. The fit and finish are perfect. Mine arrived perfectly set up and ready to go right out of the box. My only complaints, albeit minor, are the pickups. They’re a little bit harsh/bright and lack a bit of clarity compared to other passive pickups. It’s definitely a lot of guitar for the price. Lightweight and perfectly balanced. The roasted maple neck feels great and the stainless steel frets feel nice and smooth. The EGS bridge system is smooth and super easy to adjust.
