Solid State Logic SSL 2+ MKII 2x4 USB-C Audio Interface

32-bit converters + 4K mode for analog mojo = 1 killer interface! Based on the SSL 2, the 2+ adds 2 outputs to feed rack gear or a second pair of monitors.

Great sounding interface. I replaced my Focusrite Clarett + Pre with the SSL and couldn't be happier. The Clarett was good too but the SSL takes it to an entirely new level. The sound quality is amazing and I like that the controls are all on the unit itself. It's built like a tank. Drivers are rock solid with Reaper. The mic preamps are stellar. Crystal clear without any noise. Self-Noise level rating is 130.5 dbu. I've had quite a few interfaces over the years and the SSL beats them all hands down!

After using my Neural DSP Quad Cortex as a USB audio interface for three years, I started having stability issues, with it frequently dropping out and audio input becoming a bitcrushed mess. I ended up buying this to replace the QC for that use, and this blows that out of the water. Far more stable on both Windows and macOS, the headphone output drives my HD600s just fine where my QC volume had to be maxed out for usable volume, the microphone input removes the need for a Cloudlifter or a Dynamite with my SM7B, etc. As an audio interface, this destroys the QC as well as my old 3rd gen Scarlett Solo.

It sounds like an SSl console, the 32 bit converters are different, 24 bit sounds slightly distorted to me now. I use it with an Audient ID 24, audience if I need greater dynamic range. But the ssl 2+ is great for clarity and deep listening. Great product. Smooth and flavor full.

I am amazed at the sound quality and performance difference compared to my Focusrite interfaces. It's night and day to me. I'll keep my 4i4 3rd Gen as a spare in case something happens just to use in a monitoring aspect, but I have no desire to ever record with it again. My first interface, a 3rd Gen Solo I haven't decided to simply give away to someone just starting out or throw away as it's useless to me now. I don't really like most of the plugins they offer with this, but I didn't buy it for the plugins. The build quality is good for the prie, but only time will tell that. But in a year or two, there will likely be something I'll want to upgrade to anyways. I'm a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer using this for my own personal studio. It's not something for someone needing lots of inputs and very high end. But for what it is, and the price, I would highly recommend for someone needing a quality interface for their personal studio.
