i bought this Affinity model to gig/record with, believe it or not. i"ve been playing, semi-pro, and pro. actively for over twenty years now. {(rock, blues, country, gospel. etc...). i can buy any bass i want. i"ve owned and played numerous basses. These Affinity basses, have come full circle in craftmanship , and playability. They are thin. light, and very pleasing to the eyes, i just flat love playing them! And they are extremeiy durable, even though, their parts are not as heavy duty as the Fender basses. The ceramic pickups. are just as good as the Alnico pickups. (hotter). they are just cheaper to make, is all. Price is not an issue with me. if a bass is well built, and sounds great. it is the one for me. And this one of those basses.

"Black pj 4 string bass"
I have been playing for 30 +years and have had some very nice bass guitars in the over 2000 range. We have 4 kids and things are rough now so have to sell the high dollar basses for rent and other stuff. Was able to get this bass to have something to play around with. Very impressive playing and sounding bass. Needed some slight adjusting to my taste out of the box but that’s with everything. Very very happy with this bass. You could easily upgrade everything on the bass, pickups bridge whatever but it works great as is. I will be playing gigs with this bass very cool and great service from zZounds.

"I'm Impressed"

Let me start with why I'm impressed. The bass I received was sold as an open box model Whatever use it had ever had was virtually invisible. It more than met the description of it's condition as zZounds provided. It was boxed well and shipped quickly arriving in just 3 days. I've bought quite a bit if gear from zZounds before and they have never let me down.Out of the box the bass was reasonably well set up for most players. I prefer a lower action which took just minutes to do with only a saddle adjustment. The neck relief was right where I like it. What also stands out about the neck is the edge and fret finish. The fret board edge feels slightly rolled and the fret ends were dressed and finished better than any new bass I have ever gotten before. They passed the nylon stocking test with ease. That alone is extremely impressive on a bass in this price range. I've paid far more for basses and guitars that needed work on fret ends.Overall the fretwork was more than acceptable and I enjoy the feel of the neck, it's wider, deeper PBass profile and it's satin finish. The pickups are powerful. Maybe a little too powerful for me and the bridge pickup is not noiseless so I may end up replacing them but that's all based on personal preference. Others may enjoy them just as they are. The rest of the hardware and electronics are all of what one expects at this price level. The quality is good not great but all of it could very easily be upgraded. That's something I may eventually do just as I did with my CV Series Basses. It's very easy to turn this $300 bass into a $600 bass that would easily compete with or even best a $1200 bass. It's a very solid bass and at 8 1/2 lbs mine is fairly lightweight.I've played many US built Fender Basses throughout my career starting with a '63 PBass and a '66 Jazz Bass. When after a hiatus from music for several years I began to rebuild my collection of gear I bought a used MIC Squier Jazz and was immediately impressed with it's quality and value. Soon after I bought another Squier Matt Freeman PBass and again found it to be one of the best PBasses I'd ever owned if not the best. At the time the Affinity Series where seen as a very budget bare bones line lacking the same quality and value of the Classic Vibe Series Basses which IMHO were the stars of the CV Series. It appears that this is no longer the case. This Affinity Series Bass offers similar value.at a similar price to what the original CV Series sold for.No matter your level of play from beginner to performer I have no problem at all recommending the quality and value of this bass to anyone.

I bought this as a gift for my other half who had recently taken a shine to playing my '89 squier p bass. I chose this model because it has everything he loved about my p bass, but with the addition of the jazz bass pickup there is a whole other range/combination of tones. He's very happy with the bass and has fun playing it.
