I have spent several thousand dollars on bass guitars. I've bought 3 American preformer serious and sent them all back. 2 of the 3 had dead spots on the fret board. The 3rd which was a jazz bass was like a grandpa bass. I couldn't get the action down without killing all the tone. Right now I have 3 basses. A schecter j4 it's a 900 dollar bass. A fender players serious p bass it's a 700 dollar bass. This bass is 228 and it plays and sounds just as good as those do. Save yourself time and money and try this bass. Maybe I just got a good one but I absolutely love it.

This is just a well made, wonderful sounding bass! Came set up perfect out of the box! Loads of tone choices and plays really well. I'm very impressed. Would for sure buy again....can never have too many guitars/basses :) Just love zZounds!!

"Not bad but not great"

I needed a bass pretty quickly and while on a budget I couldn't afford the extra $75 or $80 a month for a more quality bass that I was going for. So I went for the $40 a month option. I'll be honest and say while this is a good bass for the price and good for Squier's quality it is not the bass you want to play live unless you do some modifications. That being said it is fun to play with, does not sound bad, and really a perfect starter bass. Playing guitar and bass for over 20 years has made me critical, even of starter instruments...but I will say this is not a bad bass and kinda fun. I'll be upgrading basses by next year but still see myself keeping and playing this.
