"The statement is true... built for a DJ... Total ease of use.. the industry standard!"
Please read all of the above lol
Sound
The sound is intense... This product can handle a whole bunch of power without being distorted. It sounds like a small amplified speaker sometimes if you take it off of your head and it sounds super clear.
Features
This product could have been a bit more comfortable... like better padding on the ear seals and maybe a pad on the outside of the headphones so there is not the whole metal resting on shoulder feel when you are DJing and mixing. But otherwise... its headphones how much more can you ask for.
Ease of Use
Plug it in and enjoy! Great sound.
Quality
I beat the heck out of theese headphones and so do my friends and they might wear out after about 4-5 years of hard constant use. Extremely durable... I would know
Value
Where I bought the headphones was a bit of a better deal but i would pay full asking retail for these things... better than the bose headphones by far (bose is totally overrated) and they give you more power for the amount you are putting into them

The Wow Factor

"I'd say THE best headphones out there"
I think that when this pair of headphones breaks or stops working (probably about 20 years from now or something) I'll buy the same ones again. Or the newer version that sony'll probably have released then. Actually I should've bought 2, so that I have one extra for when I forget the someone, or just to borrow to people, because everyone wants to try them.
Sound
Love it. Nice deep bass, crisp clear mids and highs. You can use it for anything. TV sounds good, mp3 player sounds great, PC sounds great...
Features
The swivel cups are great. Rotateable in any position you want, and close good. You don't get any outside noise in it. Neither do people hear something when they're standing next to you.
Quality
Perfect I'd say... Nice and solid design, the "telephone-wire" is great too.
Value
It costs a lot compared to other headphones, but everything extra that you get (sound quality, cups) is double worth it!
Manufacturer Support
Don't know much about this, but Sony is a well known company and I'm sure they'll help you out when you have any problems.
The Wow Factor
HOT! Man I fell in love with this headphones just by seeing an image on the internet. They're really sexy...

"Durability is a big issue here."
Expected more used before I resorted to super glue.
Sound
There's no question about the sound quality on these joint, the wide frequency response range is great since I have a bit of high end hearing loss.

This is where I have a big problem. Like some of Sony's othere models durability is a problem....I have duct tape and super glueon several places on ahd past the swival to the cup. I had the same problem with the MDR-V600's; and I use them in a studio setting, not as a dj!They look great, but durability is a real problem that SONY needs to address. Although, they look like brushed aluminum, its actually a lightweigh plastic composite...beware.

"All mouth no trousers"
These headphones are the headphone equivalent of a Rice Rocket with an overpowered sub and a glossy paint job. You may think it's a sweet looking high performance Sports Car, but you're not fooling anyone.
Sound
Bass is too heavy. A balanced sound is better for djing and listening too. Not everyone uses bass hits to mix. Sure you can do worse for sound, you can do a lot better too.
Features
The long spiral cord offers a generous walking radius. You never need to take your headphones off to search through records stacked in a far off corner. Swivel cups are nice and the whole setup fits snugly to your head until you do what these things are designed for - general use. Leather is soft and plush until it gets a hint of sunlight. Leather will crack in the sun, and these will crack fast. My buddy learned this lesson so I didn't have to. Even then, mine started to crack after 2.5 years of use, they're now 4 yrs old.
Quality
Well Sony certainly made THE look for headphones. Magazine ads, sexy photo spreads, and lots and lots of djs have made this style chic and now copied.
Design is the key problem. They spent the money on artistic design and marketing rather than engineers. At least I hope an engineer didn't approve of the swivel and some of the other questionable areas. These headphones are built to make nice product shots and be wonderful until the warranty runs out. Be warned, if you buy these headphones look after them or you will break them in a year.
Value
The honeymoon is great. You may have urges to make love to these headphones for a month. Watch out though, these girls must be made in Idaho, the prettiest in the world until you've made a commitment to spend your life with them.
Manufacturer Support
I didn't even bother with Sony. From reading other's posts, I'm glad I didn't waste my time trying. Some retail stores have great return policies. Your best bet is to buy from a good store and look after these headphones.
Zip ties can be a clean and effective way to strengthen and repair these headphones. They are cheap and easy to install. To keep the headphones looking stylish, try a shiny chrome cap. A sheet metal worker made my friend a piece which is essentially a small piece of pipe with 2 grooves cut out. It slides onto the offending cylinder and has grooves that allow it to cover past where the cylinder connects to the 'Y' piece.
Sony doesn't want to babysit you or buy you a new one when you break your shiny toy. Fix them yourself or buy a different brand next time.

"Great-sounding headphones that punch right through the mix and are guaranteed to break within a year, given practical use."
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
They look hot. They sound great. But they are made of playdough that, with any REAL use, WILL CRACK WITHIN A YEAR. GUARANTEED.
Sound
They're intentionally bass heavy. They punch right through the monitors so you can queue properly. Very nice!
Features
Needs replaceable parts.
Quality
There are literally hundreds of different dj decks/players to choose from...And we get, what, 3-4 decent dj headphones to select from? WHEN WILL A MANUFACTURER MAKE A PAIR OF DJ HEADPHONES CONSTRUCTED FROM METAL INSTEAD OF THIS "DURABLE" PLASTIC CRAP THAT CRACKS WITHIN A YEAR??? If i pay a hundred+ bucks for cans, they better not crack. EVER. Period.
Value
It seems like all the other competitors are using craplastic to manufacture their 'phones as well... :(
The Wow Factor
Sleek design that certainly created the ultimate look for dj headphones. Just look at how the Stantons copy this design. These headphones are resting atop the heads of model chics posing as "disc jockeys" in liquor ads.

"Great headphones.....for a year or two."
Now that I've heard the rampant occurances of the swivel ear cylinder cracking, I won't own another pair of V700's. But I loved the sound of both my 700's and my 7506's, so I will probably end up getting the V900's, or if I can get my ears under a set of CD-3000's and see what all the fuss is about, I may go with those.
Sound
The sound is killer. Best pair of headphones I've ever owned, better quality than my 7506's and pioneers. Great bass and great overall sound.
Features
The carry bag was better than the one provided for my 7506's, very stylish and cool under a black light. The long coiled cord and swivel earcups are a plus too (sort of - read on).
Quality
These headphones are great.........at first.
If you are researching about the swivel cylinder ear piece cracking, you've got another victim.
I realized the headphones just get "stretched" over time. The more you wear them, the less snug they fit on your head, and then eventually the plastic swivel cylinders crack and fall off. This is all from easy home use, not clubbing every night. Out comes the JB weld.
Value
I gotta say......for the price, and for how long they lasted, there are better headphones out there. :(
Manufacturer Support
Sony sucks for service on everything.....so I didn't even bother contacting them.
The Wow Factor
Props on the looks though, Sony.........these are hot headphones.
Until they are covered in adhesive.

"Don't buy - force Sony to improve quality!"
Verified Customer
zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
Great sound, nice cups - surely the industry standard
Features
Nice and modern looking with great sound, nice swivel cups, nice length to cord, etc..
Value
$140 isn't a good value for a pair of headphones that are going to break after a year and half or so of NORMAL use.
Manufacturer Support
I've been through 2 pairs in the past 3 years -- they are NOT made well at all. Same problem each time is the side plastic peices cracking through continuous use. I've called Sony twice and suggested making them differently. I refuse to buy them again, they might be the industry standard but I am tired of throwing money away on a product that Sony refuses to improve for us DJ's.
The Wow Factor
Don't want it anymore....I'm doing just great with my Senn HD280's and don't even miss the Sony's!

"do yourself a favor, DON'T BUY THESE HEADPHONES!!!"
i hope I have made myself clear!!! Do not buy these heaphones, they WILL break, especially if you are a DJ. They do sound great and look cool, but the people who gave these phones a good Review will change their mind when they breeak, and they WILL break! I will consider this review my public service for the day.
Sound
great sound, while they last
Features
great swivel features, but if you plan on using them often, they WILL break
Quality
if you are a DJ .. DON't BUY THESE HEADPHONES! I have two sitting in my closet , mine and my roomates.. they all break the same way and I have 3 friends who have had theirs break the same way. The cheap plastic part that connects to the speakers to the Band, WILL crack.
Value
If yo could afford to buy these every three months , go for it
Manufacturer Support
My friend tried to get SONY to fix them, and they ended up charging him more money than the headphones are worth!! it's a nightmare to talk to somebody.
The Wow Factor
I hate these headphones!!!! biggest waste of money... if I add up all the broken headphones my friends have, it amounts to over $1000!

"Great Monitors for the Studio"
I don't regret my choice buying these headphones as the sound quality is superb. My only complaint is not being able to wear the headphones for a long period of time.
Sound
The sound is very pure and crystal clear. There is a slight underlying bass drive, but it balances nicely with the treble range. It is great being able to monitor voices and the piano with precision. The closed supra-aural design helps exponentially. The equipment that I use the monitors with are: Sony MiniDisc Recorder, Cakewalk, and a Yamaha Digital Keyboard.
Features
Great Features: Folding unit, headphone plug-in adapter. Not so great: Generic travel bag. My only complaint deals with the coiled headphone cord; it's too short. I feel that I'm always moving the cord into a comfortable position. The coiled cord seems to pull my headphones away from me. Extension cord recommended.
Ease of Use
Swivel earcups are great. Adjusting headband works well, although for this type of professional equipment, it should have a band that automatically adjusts to each individual. Instead of adjusting the headphones everytime they are in use.
Quality
The DJ monitors are built heavy duty. Due to this aspect; after awhile in the studio, they do begin to get slightly uncomfortable. As far as quality; IT'S A SONY.
My only concern is the fabric that covers the earcups may begin to peel in time as did my last pair of sony headphones.
Value
I believe that the sound is worth the price. Comfort design best suits a DJ, not a recording artist.
Manufacturer Support
No repairs needed at this time.
The Wow Factor
After listening to the sound the monitors deliver; the silver finish, swivel cups, and overall design are what sold me.

Sony MDR-V700DJ Headphone Customer Review
Quality
My only problem is that after a year of steady DJ use the earpiece cracked at the swivel joint and then ended up breaking off. I have a feeling this will happen with the next pair I buy as well. They just have to strengthen that part.

"Poor design."
I live with two other DJ's and in our turntable room we have the carcasses of three sets of these. One of them doesn't work at all, the other is a single ear-piece that's been dislocated from the headrest, and the other is barely attatched to the headrest. The swivel arm on the headphone has cracked on all three and I've seen similar breaks on almost evey set of these things that's more than a year old. Extreemly shody design and manufacturing.
