I have been a serious hobbyist, semi-professional guitarist for about 40 years, performing live and recording with . I tried Stringjoy strings for the first time about 6 yrs ago. Since then, and because I had a pretty good supply of other brands in the gauges I use on various scale length guitars, I had been back and forth, going from Stringjoy to other major brands intermittently. This game me a chance to A/B them on a pretty regular basis. The other ones would be on sale and I would grab some, but always went back to the stringy when preparing for a project, or when I wanted to get back to the best “feel.” Here’s the deal, they cost a little more than the major brands’ “regular” string. They don’t cost more than the other brands’ premium strings anymore, because those prices have all gone up. Stringjoys cost less than other boutique strings and they are are better than all of them. They are more balanced in volume and tone, and I play the pure nickel, round core Broadways for vintage tone and easy bending. I settled some time ago on 10’s for my shorter scale guitars, and 9.5’s for my Fender-type builds. Stringjoys also sound and feel great for longer, so I don’t change strings as often. Since they have a custom option, I choose the gauges I want for each string, depending on the tuning I am going to use and I put them on my lap steel in custom gauges, too. I see recently that my friends who gig and do session work regularly in Nashville are using Stringjoy pretty ubiquitously, as well. They are all I use now and you will not be disappointed if you give them a try!

I recently discovered these strings by sheer coincidence, and I found them to be much superior to any other brand I've tried to get that balanced tone and feel. Everything is subjective, of course. What stands out for me is their playability; they stretch very easily- but stay in tune; playing on them is effortless and fun, they are versatile, and the tone is spot on. I have now restrung all my guitars and bass with these strings.
