I bought a Martin, the all Mahogany for around 1500.00. Too mellow. It was very nice, but was not what I wanted. I sent it back and started a lot of research. For the amount of money I was putting on the Martin and go myself a really nice Strat, the Mex Players with the noiseless pups. I found the Seagull S6 and went t Utube and listened to as many examples of how it sounded as possible. I fell in love with it. For a third of what I was going to spend on the Martin, I could have something I really liked. This guitar is bright without sounding thin. The Wild Cherry back and sides, and a Cedar top makes this guitar have a wonderful bright and full bodied sound. After a month working with it, it seams to be getting better sound and playing wise. Great guitar, if you are looking for a guitar with bright projection, this is it. I would recommend it strongly.

Very heavy, well made solid cedar top, Cherry back and sides. Big hands no problem, it has a wider neck. Stays in tune, with the finger board and tuners straight in line no binding on the strings. you will love this Guitar. I would Highly Recommend it. but don't take my word for it, Buy it for yourself.

i bought one of these guitars in 1982 from a bluegrass shop in Catonsville,MD. It is beat up, has small dents, and i have almost wore a hole clean thru the soundboard just in front of the pickgua from ar has opened a ggresive fingerpicking, Dont use a pick much. long story short this guitar has opened up and with new strings on it,after 32 years it sounds amazing. i have two high end taylors that i play alot too and the only difference is in playability. it is just a little harder to fret the notes on the seagull. bottom line: i love the sound on this old guitar but if you can afford it spend your hard earned money on a Taylor. they are much easier to play, it will make pratice time more enjoyable and it will make you sound better........that is what you want. my S6 is an old back up for my Taylors.

Musical Background:

playing acoustic guitar since i was 10 years. now i'm pushing 62

"Finally I own a guitar that fits my hands"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This Seagull S6 Cedar is AWESOME. I also previously purchased a Yamaha FG730S from zZounds and love it too, however the the 1.68 nutt width doesn't fit my big hands. The Yamaha sounds good but the S6 sounds much louder and richer. The bass response is incredible, warm and rich sounding. I play gospel bluegrass along with a banjo player as a ministry to residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The absense of a bass player performing with us often left us wishing we had one, but the bass notes and projection from the S6 fills the void nicely. I highly recommend this guitar.

Musical Background:

I have played guitar off and on for over 50 years and in those years have had several guitars.
