I love this guitar, and when I first set eyes on it I knew I had to get it. I traded it in for a customized Dean ML that I had bought a few months earlier with my stimulus check money. The guy I bought the ML from could not get the guitar to stay in tune despite multiple setups, after he worked on it 5 times it was nearly unplayable. I got pissed, I payed a lot of money for that guitar and it was worse than my junker. The last few times I went in I noticed he had just got the Syntster Standard in, I had never seen a guitar like it. I eventually got into it with the dude, I asked for my money back and he wouldn’t give it to me. We eventually worked something out, which was me trading in the ML for the Synyster Standard. I said to hell with a setup and decided to go about it myself. I hold no ill will against the guy, it worked out great for me getting this awesome guitar. First thing I noticed, despite being a “metal” guitar, it has a very twangy sound perfect for blues and such, especially when switched to single coil on the bridge pickup. This was a big difference from the ML, which was all growl and roar, this one has a bit more finesse. It can still get a very heavy tone, if you know how to play it right, you can get both. Upon purchase, I was not aware it was a signature guitar, and did not know much about Ax7x. Gotta say I was a bit disappointed when I found out (I wanted it to be MY signature guitar), I still love it though and its flashy looks fit with my flashy style of playing. Another thing I will say to anyone getting a guitar with a floyd, especially if you want to downtune it: LEARN HOW TO SET IT UP YOURSELF!!!! It was tuned to E originally, I wanted it at D standard, and after the fiasco with the ML, and price quotes I got from other luthiers about floyd rose setup, I decided to learn this skill myself. Not only has it saved me a lot of money, working on a complicated system like a floyd has made setting up normal electric guitars childs play. It was a lot of trial and error and hours on the work bench, but I now have a deep understanding of the physics of the floyd system works. I have got it set up real good now, I have to tune it probably twice a week and make adjustments every few months. I get compliments on the set up a lot and it always makes me happy. Moral of the story: if you want something done, do it yourself!It has a few minor problems, one of which is that when I use the bar too aggressively, the strings, particularly low E (D on mine) can go out of tune, requiring me to take the nut off and retune guitar, sometimes adjust intonation. As I have gotten more familiar with this guitar, this has turned into a nonissue, I know how much it can handle, and can fix it in a couple minutes. Another issue is that the the system that locks the bar in is not the greatest, and the part that screws in the back broke, so sealed it with duct tape which made it a bit clunky. I just ordered a replacement bar however. Possibly worth upgrading to a higher quality tremolo system, but it gets the job done for the most part.I’ve found that most issues with this guitar (and my other guitars as well), are solved by understanding the physics of the instrument and being familiar with playing and setup, so I would say these issues are something you are gonna have with many different guitars.That all being said, I like this guitar because I have a personal connection with it, I’ve learned a lot from it, and it is strapped to my shoulder all day every day. Is this the right guitar for you, that is for you decide, get one that speaks to you and treat her like you just got married.

I think this is one guitar that I will never get rid of. It was everything I had hoped and then some. I chose this item because it was the guitar played by my favorite guitarist. I had to have it. When I actually checked into it's features, I fell in love with it.

I don't plan on buying another guitar for a very long time. Because this guitar is everything you can use, i believe it can diversify to any sound of music. Unless your Syn and you can have like 10 of these but i wont buy another one for years.

the guitar is a great buy for anyone even if you are just starting. i say go with the standered if you cannot affored the custom.
