I bought this bass sight-unseen. I had heard people rave about Schecter basses before, but had never actually seen one up close. I have always played passive pups through a Sansamp DI which I love... I decided to give this one with the 18v preamp built in. BOY AM I GLAD I DID! I love this thing. First off, it's beautiful. Best looking bass I have ever laid eyes on. Also, straight out of the box it was in tune, and set up perfect for me. The action is great, the neck is smooth and fast, the bass is balanced and lightweight. All that said, the best feature is the SOUND. I love the active 3 band EQ. I believe you could take any plain Jane amp and get a tone straight outta the bass for any genre imaginable. I am totally sold on Schecter. I plan on getting a Schecter guitar next, and a few more of their basses on down the road. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I don't understand why so many consider it a "plain looking" bass. The shape is not only ergonomic but very eye catching. The grain on mine is even better looking than the ones used in the promotional pics.
Sound
Thanks to the three band EQ, you can dial in about any sound you want, from thumpy lows, mid range growls, to very trebly.
Features
Love the sound and weight of the swamp ash. The active pre-amp and 3 band EQ are great. String through the body is nice. The EMG's on it sounds great and would be very easy to switch out for other EMG's.
Ease of Use
Great neck. Great action. Comfortable standing and the most comfy bass I've had for sitting down.
Quality
Very well made. The setup Schecter did on it was very well done. Very low action with a bit of fret clang, but I like that.
Value
I think it's a great value for the price. Plays better than Fenders and Musicmans that I've tried out and sounds just as good.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had any problems with it as of yet as I've only had it a couple of months, but they did answer questions I had about it very quickly.
The Wow Factor
I think it's beautiful and very eye catching.

This plain Jane without make-up is a sound of beauty. The neck is thin, lightweight and the sound is very good. The three band active pickups are great. If you are looking for an active bass this is the one. The price is right for the quality and sound I would highly recommend this one.
