After a string change and a set up , which I do to every guitar I buy , this guitar is fantastic, well worth the price! Frets were perfect , neck is dark , smooth , and the ebony fretboard is great , locking tuners feel solid , the pickups sound great , this guitar needs nothing but playing!

"DON'T BUY A FENDER"

Review title is a bit of clickbait but seriously this guitar will put fender guitars twice the price to shame. The specs are fantastic, quality is great, design is familiar, comfortable, and intuitive. A great modern take on the S-type guitar. Pickups have a lot to give but not overly hot like on some guitars from Schecter. The look is very traditional and standard which isn't a bad thing but the biggest distinguishing feature is the beautifully roasted maple neck that the audience will see the headstock of.
Sound
The guitar fits into a wide variety of musical styles from rock and metal to country and blues. I even plan on using it to play worship services at my church which was the main reason I bought an S-type guitar with single coils.
Features
The roasted maple neck is my favorite part of the whole guitar. It feels soft to the touch whenever you wrap your hand around the neck to play. The neck profile is one of the most comfortable I've ever played.
Ease of Use
The pickups in this guitar are extremely dynamic and versatile. The neck pickup sounds how you would expect it to on a traditional S-type guitar. Position 4 (neck and middle) is one of my new favorite platforms to build a tone from. There is some slight hum from the single coils as is the nature of single coil pickups but it is entirely manageable and not nearly as bad as I have seen on some guitars.
Quality
I have owned over 10 Schecter guitars over the years and still have many. Schecter has been one of the most reliable guitar brands I've owned. Their guitars are solid as rocks and will stand up to harsh treatment when asked. Between moving, gigging, practice, and going through life with Schecter guitars the only thing I've had break on one was the tip of a pickup selector switch when another guitar was packed away for a move.
Value
This guitar would be worth it even if it was double the price.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had much contact with Schecter but as a company I fully trust their customer service. All employees I've spoken with are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
The Wow Factor
When I started looking for a more traditional S-type guitar in this price range I began with the usual suspects. I considered a Fender Player series strat, even a PRS SE Silver Sky. After learning that Schecter made a guitar in this price range that fit my need for an S-type guitar it was a no brainer. Schecter guitars have never let me down.

"Can’t beat the quality for the price"

For sure a string change when you get it and tweak it to your liking. Other than that you don’t need to break the bank for this guitar. The tone and feel is up there with those over priced guitars.

"Blown away...after a string change...seriously, set it up to preference, then dig in...you'll find your happy place."

Most of my guitars are all H/H or H/S/H. The closest thing I own to a strat is a Suhr Modern or a Jem. I had been contemplating a USA model of this guitar, but hadn't actually played one. Also thought about getting a USA strat again. I decided to give this a whirl. Out of the box was an immediate "ugh". It could be that it was the sudden cold spell and Fed Ex taking an extra 2 days to make it the last 35 miles, or the fact that it comes with 10s. Regardless, before passing final judgment, I thought it best to set it up like my other guitars. Well worth it because it hangs right up there with guitars twice the price. Neck profile is incredibly comfortable. Love the jumbo frets. Tonally it sounds fantastic. It gets that awesome strat tone, but you can still shred on it with easy if you want. There were a couple of fret ends that I hit with a file real quick. I'm not a luthier by any means, but it was two minutes and done. It's not even that it was bad by any means, I'm just used to the Suhr. The tone, the feel of the neck, just how comfortable it is to play and it looks amazing in person. It sounds great out of the box, but trust me when I say to do the string change and set up to preference when it shows up first, then dig in. The only reason I gave 3 stars for manufacturer support is because I can't believe someone would have signed off on it being set up to play as it was out of the box (which could be fed ex) and I dinged for value just because dollar for dollar, it's in the ball park for some of the MIM Charvel Pro Mod DKs that are out. I preferred the neck on this over the charvel because I feel like the pro mods are almost too small and the necks just feel incredibly hard...I imagine the ebony board helps contract the roasted maple on this model. For me, this is was the better guitar once I changed the strings and dropped the action.

First one I received had a crack in the fretboard ,seems like they didn't let the wood dry, sent it back and received a replacement and the same thing. Sucks because it's a great guitar. Might buy another one to see if it has the same problem

"Incredible Build Quality Hampered by Poor Resonance"

I wanted to love this guitar. The build quality is superb as is the fretwork, but it just doesn't resonate very well. This may be a one off in my case, hopefully so, but I just couldn't love it because of that and sadly am sending it back.
