"Not bad for the price"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Picked up this guitar in Transparent Green as I was looking for my first 7-string guitar. At this price point, it probably has the best features, but isn't perfect. Pros: I was surprised at how thin and fast the neck feels. The neck is unfinished (which I prefer) and my hand glides up and down the neck, no problem. The action was surprisingly low which was a huge plus. The finish on the body and headstock is really nice, again, better than I expected. The trem feels real solid and the locking tuners are nice. Cons: Like others have mentioned there can be tuning issues after bending a string. This is due to the lack locking nut. I've heard putting graphic in the nut helps this but I haven't tried. Honestly, the tuning issue isn't that bad, but I minor annoyance. The pickups are okay. I didn't expect to like them. I'd pretty much expect to replace pickups on any guitar in this price range. However, they aren't atrocious. So the P/U's aren't really a pro or con. "It's good but has a fixable flaw to be aware of"

This guitar is a solid piece of musical gear that won't let you down as long as you fix one irritating thing first, The bridge. It's notoriously known to snap strings. I've seen on quite a few forums that this issue is wide spread. It's not the saddles that are causing the issue but the holes right below them where the strings come through the bridge block. The top of those holes are the culprit. The holes need to be filed down to incorporate a smooth slot for the string to rest on or you will go through strings like crazy. The fix isn't all that hard but there is a chance that you could gouge your guitar if you are impatient or are not a DIY guy or gal. Take it in to a luthier or guitar tech to have it done but keep in mind, this may void your warranty and the ability to take it back. After the fix though, this thing sounds amazing. Electronics are rock solid as they stand. Locking tuners are solid. It's not a bad axe at all it just has a bridge that needs to be updated.
