I have owned many, many basses, vintage, modern, U.S. made and imported, I owned an original NYC Steinberger from the 80's at one point. I bought this as a travel bass so it spends a fair amount of time in the trunk of my car. Overall the bass plays great, finish looks good, electronics/pickups sound good. Neck is extremely stable even when kept in the trunk for a while. I hardly ever have to tune it regardless of temperature which to me is worth the price of admission. The hook really makes it balance perfectly. It's interesting that this bass weighs about as much as a full size body bass, but it is not uncomfortable at all and it not overly heavy. Tons of sustain, great fret work. I really like this bass more than I thought I would. The gig bag is a bit cheap but overall this is a very well made bass considering the price tag. I love it.

Great bass if you don't have any problems. I've had this bass almost a year has been great up until last week strings started to come away from finger board went to adjust the neck to find out that the allen head connected to the truss rod was not even connected... no problem warranty right well Gibson almighty corp will sell you the world but if its broke you did it customer is only worth price of admission. Anyhow now that I have an 800.00 dollar ?guess I could make it into a lamp. I figured that I tell Ned Steinberger to my surprise he replied after knowing this wasn't really in his court by design only. Well after 8 or so emails a few pictures sent this is a quote from Ned "It seems like the truss rod is too short, I can’t see it at all. Can you see the end of the rod threads if you look in from the end?" So short of story NEVER buy from Gibson
