The Samson R21 is absolutely perfect for things like punk, metal, hardcore and other extremely loud/rowdy types of music. I've used them for 5 years and they have done the job just fine. Mine have been dropped, kicked, thrown, twirled.....beer-soaked, rained on....and just about anything else you can think of. They still work fine and I don't really worry about anyone destroying/stealing them. Not a bad investment at all.I will say that anyone who thinks that the R21 sounds even relatively close to a Shure SM58 should have their heads examined. These are 2 entirely different animals.

Awesome microphones and a good price. I love that they come with a case. The clips they come with are not the standard size for microphone stands, you must get the smaller adapter or use your own microphone clips. They sound really great but don't put them too close to other equipment because they will bleed into it, so obviously they have a decent pickup radius and gain.

Great mic! I use it for vocals and it sounds great. I'm on a low budget and I was surprised at how good the quality was.

"R21 is a good performer in price/quality ratio."
Comparing to cheaper brands, R21 beats them in quality/price ratio. For Luxurious brands, R1 beats them in feasibility to price return ratio..
