"Great sounds, fair triggers, still lots of fun!!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I really enjoy this kit, but I do miss my acoustic set.
Sound
Considering its price as compared to other kits, the sounds are incredible (try it through a P.A.)The drum sounds are very configurable and the ambiance settings help to create seemingly endless sound scapes. The cymbals can sound a bit digitised at times but it is also an overlookable issue. To the point, there are some very ballsy sounds in this brain.
Features
A good amount of trigger inputs, but I can definatley see where some may need more unless you are very comfortable with MIDI. The accompaniment (sp) songs are great to practice to and even might inspire
Quality
The single trigger triggers are holding up well (after 1 year) the double trigger triggers however, drove me completely crazy until they just completely gave up. Three months into ownership and Roland would only pay for parts and not service (or vice versa I can't remember) and I would have to pay shipping also. I have since changed the cables to mono cables and am succesfully using them as single triggers. So I have had to lose two triggers effectively. The rack seems to be holding up well also. But those cymbal triggers really bring this score down.
Value
Like I said earlier, at this price point you are getting a very playable, configurable, great sounding kit.
Manufacturer Support
Roland wanted me to go through my music store and they were not very concerned with helping me. (My wife bought them for me, I would have never used this stote...name withheld)
The Wow Factor
Because there are others that "Blow it away" in the Roland line... I would say, the hardcore player would find it much less attractive than the beginner or casual player. On the other hand the casual player will absolutely love it if you can live with the crappy cymbal triggers (just change to the mono cables now, save yourself)

"It's crazy good"

. Nothing more to say
Sound
The sound is very impressive, about 99 kits on with different drums on everyone. You can also adjust pitch, decay and other settings to completely customize your drumming noise. The more you edit it, the better the kit will sound. Although there some very impressive one's to start with.
Features
Um, yeah...
Quality
Quality is it's downfall, but it's still very impressive. You can always upgrade to the V-drums later in life when you get rich. I got this model because it was the only one I could afford!!
Value
It's expensive, but worth it.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed to, that's how good it is!!
The Wow Factor
It's a must have. It helps me so much the ability to put headphones on the practise all through the night.

"Try 'em, you'll like 'em! And the beat goes on and on and......"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

I haven't yet checked out all the features found on the sound module. The rubber pads are smaller than I'm used to, making it more difficult not to miss the heads during play. The rubber pads don't have quite the bounce that an acoustic drum has, but I'm sure, that with practice, I can overcome this obstacle. They are very easy to adjust. A definite plus! I can't believe they're priced as low as they are, considering the sound quality. I'm sure that if I learned all the technical aspects of the module, I would like this kit even more! They really are a kick to play! My brother almost had to pull me off them! I plan on buying them and adding some extras. Thanx!

"A one man band for about a grand!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I saw a demo. I got my set as a promo deal, so I'm not complaining just playing.
Sound
the sound is great. the module can be tweaked to your liking. I have used this set to record professionaly.
Features
big bang for the buck! ok so it does take some time to get used to the pads if switching from an acoustic set. but what more can you ask for? Want to complain about cross sticking, go buy a dual zone pad.
Quality
had some problems with the cymbals, but fixed them myself. seems pretty sturdy. Have played them for over a year.
Value
What do you want for a grand? Yes it would be nice if it came with a dual zone snare...
Manufacturer Support
The battery went out after about three months so I couldn't store presets. I emailed Roland and they had a dealer right down the road from me who quickly fixed the problem. enough said.
The Wow Factor
I have a 70's set of Gretsch a 56 ludwig set and a 69 Rodgers set with alot of other drums that I have collected over the years. This set can do it all, well except duplicate the sound of my 56 Ludwig snare without the snares on...
