The original snare pad on the Td-4 is more of a trigger pad, the pdx-8 has the feel of a snare. Rolls and rim shots are now doable. I went from a 23 piece acoustic set I had built up since the 60's to this little set and believe it or not, I love the sounds. The cymbals are so so. But the Pdx-8 does make it more playable.
