As the title says: you can find plenty of other solutions at lower cost. The arm covers are made of fabric, not plastic. The mic attachment is sturdy. I mounted it onto the left arm of my Halo.K88 workstation desk. The action of the arm is very smooth, with no snagging. Warning: If you use the through-desk mounting option, the screw threads will fit into a 3/4" hole, but the wider stub needs an inch, so choose your bit wisely beforehand to save yourself a minor bit of grief.
