I have a less-than-medium hand size and these sticks fit perfectly in my hands. I tried these 8A's along side a bunch of signature sticks and these had the best response and playability - for what I do. They do have some lacquer on them, nothing a little sandpaper can't handle. Applying sandpaper will actually give them a satin finish - easier to grip than no finish at all (IMHO)..
The pros outweigh the cons. I'll use these again and again..
