I really like that all 8 of the mic inputs are on the rear. Since I use outboard preamps, I only use TRS plugs and leave the gains at zero and everything sounds great. I'm using an old MOTU 8pre to add some extra channels and the ADAT connectivity has been flawless so far with no dropouts. I haven't tried the re-amp plugs on the front yet but that is a super cool feature that I look forward to using. The buttons and knobs are surprisingly uncomplicated and intuitive. The "Main" button is unexpectedly handy as a programmable output select button that switches playback from mains to a different output pair with one push of a button instead of navigating software. Presonus' application 'Output Control' is a lot like the MOTU application and basically nothing like Focusrite, though it contains far more functionality than the owner of any single Presonus interface would ever need, so it can be a little confusing at first. Thankfully, there was a recent update that fixed some bugs that I no longer need to complain about in this review. Of all the interfaces and soundcards I've used for the last almost 20 years, the Presonus Quantum HD 8 finally satisfies every itch and eliminates every pet peeve, and I couldn't be more happy about it!
