I really love this preamp. The amount of gain staging options is impressive. There is a nice (and necessary) HP filter at the input. You can take out both the compressor and EQ for sources that don't require any adjustments. The compressor is very useable and musical. Despite the low range of available ratios, it seems to work for almost any situation. The input section includes a variable impedance selector for the microphone input, which allows you to dial in a certain level of character. The EQ is just as versatile, and musical. Dialing in a perfect bass guitar tone is easy as pie. There are plenty of professional reviews of this product online, and you can find better analysis' of this product from those. Suffice it to say that I love it, and won't be parting with it. You can have it when you pry it from my cold, dead, fingers.

I got this after reading the online reviews. Unfortunately for Presonus, the perception is that they are only good at building low to mid range gear, and I too fell for this "snobbery". Well, this preamp cured me of that! This thing sounds amazing. It's quiet and adds a bit of warming character when the input section is pushed. I also have a Focusrite ISA Two, and the ADL700 compliments it nicely. At the current price ($1K), it's a steal. I have had no experience with Presonus' customer service, and hope I never have to contact them!

I spent a great deal of time researching channel strips. I am simply blown away at the 3D quality of the audio. I have used other tube preamps in the past that can be a bit "squishy" for lack of a better term. This unit give you an ultra clean tone all the way to a furry goodness that just sounds good. This is far more versatile than other units I have used that cost more than double. There is a good reason this strip is being used by so many live/studio folks around the world. The eq is super usable and is pretty hard to screw up. The compressor has a lovely ratio range which works wonderfully while tracking. You can get a completely transparent control, or a crushing compression out of this unit. If you are thinking about it, STOP! and DO IT!

Best drum and bass pre I have ever used, makes drums tight wirh punch, bass is big and warm. This pre gives you a 3d feel, its awesome.. beats many with higher price tags easy. By the wsy the eq is like putting a shhen on your mix.
