"Great pieces of gear"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Haven't regretted this for a moment. It's easy to use thanks to the menu. It would have been nice if there were more on board buttons and controls for things like EQ and dynamics to control them immediately, but there's obviously only so much room on the mixer itself I guess.
Sound
Absolutely crystal clear sound. I'm not a digital enthusiast by a long shot because I get visions of 'blocky' sounding audio. But this gives me very smooth, authentic sounding audio. I use it for live recording, and the live sound is great but then I listen back to the recordings and they're just great.
Features
Considering the price I definitely got my money's worth. I thought there would be one or two dynamic processors but it's actually a single processor for each channel and you can use the gates, expander, limiter and compressor all simultaneously. The delay just a fantastic features for the outputs. It's a must-have feature, but it's shocking that barely any mixers actually feature it! I updated my firmware from the version I got when I first bought the unit, and it had an addition to the delay feature. Also I contacted Phonic with a suggested idea and they said the feature will be available in the next firmware version! Can't wait for that.
Ease of Use
One thing which threw me off was the menu's "back" button. I found it quick enough thanks to the manual but before I knew it was there I was using the small buttons on the top only. Since I know where it is now I'm fine but I was confused for a moment. Everything else is easy to use. The manual is clear on most every point. The menus are great, and very very easy to understand.
Quality
While I think the unit could look slightly better, it's obviously built to last. It's strong and sturdy. The body and the buttons and the faders and the controls, they're all very strong. Definitely have no qualms with taking it on the road.
Value
All of the individual functions if you add them up it will add up to considerably more than what I paid. I don't see many other devices similar to this at this price, save for one or two. I jumped at this one because of the touch screen. I'd seen pictures of the menu online before and I got it almost immediately. I like that.
Manufacturer Support
I emailed Phonic about a 31-band EQ and they said that it's coming soon through the EFX. I'm excited about that. I haven't had any real issues yet, but it was nice of them to take the time on a simple question like that.
The Wow Factor
Not the sexiest product, like I said earlier, but the touch screen makes up for it. I haven't seen another digital mixer in this price range with a nice looking digital screen like this. Lots of color and its laid out very sexily. This is an enormous boost in my book.

"Excellent mixer at an excellent price"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I intend to run this mixer right into the ground. I'll replace it when it becomes absolutely necessary.
Sound
Gives nice, clear sound when used with just a few instruments and a set of genelec monitors. I tried it out with vocals only just to see what we were dealing with. It came across magnificently. Added some compression to said vocals and, "like, woah, man." After this we gave it a go at a rehearsal and I just can't flaw the unit's sound at all. Very well done.
Features
I'd have loved for it to have multi-channel ADAT for use in my studio, but otherwise I'm set. I mean, for the price I can't expect anything more than I was given. I feel spoilt. You're given dynamic processors across the board on inputs and outputs, as well as delays and that, again, inputs and outputs... I found all of this useful. I haven't given the effects a go yet, but I'm impressed with the depth it was all given. I can't imagine being able to navigate all those parameters, but there are some presets so I'll start with those.
Ease of Use
The touch screen helps. I've used many a digital mixer in my time, and they often come with these little displays that you can navigate with one control that you'll eventually learn to scroll and select, scroll and select. None of that here. Just touch the function you want and you're good to go. I need to use the rotary control for adjusting a few things, and I don't really like the feel of that, but it's not really a big deal.
Quality
Seems sturdy. Controls and everything feel smooth, but solid. I've been moving it around a bit since I've gotten it without any troubles, but I haven't dropped it yet either. Nor do I plan to. My main complaint is the rotary control, but like I said earlier it's not a big deal (nor will it break on me). I'd use it on the road, but I'd also get a case for it to go in if I did.
Value
I'm more than happy with what I got, hence the glowing review. I intend on driving it pretty hard, so we'll see later on if it can handle the pressure. I haven't seen any similarly priced models for this kind of gear, so I can't say for sure. But compared to the pricier stuff they have going around, this is just as good.
Manufacturer Support
I had a problem with the firmware update and I got a response pretty quickly. Well, less than 12 hours. The response I got was exactly what I needed so I didn't mind waiting at all. No repairs or anything have been needed and I've never owned anything else from them so I can't say anything more.
