"Great amp for the price"

This amp is a great value for it's price. I also own a line 6 spyder III and this thing is a much better amp. I only needed a practice combo, and went with the 20w version, although I do now wish I'd gotten the vypyr II as that has fuzz, and a few more effects that I'm sort of missing now. Nice cleans, and of course the modeler for the 6505. The XXX is nice also. The gritty stuff is where this amp shines. I'd buy again, except that I'd probably upgrade to the Vypyr VIP II next time. I haven't used Peavey support so they got a 5 by default. ZZounds is an awesome company with easy payment plans, and great customer service.

"Peavey vypyr I guitar modeling amplifier"

Do beginners need a Peavey Vypyr I amplifier? You bet. I've been practicing and studying guitar for only about two years. Got the open cords, fairly good chord changes, some simple tunes and strumming. My new Peavey Vypyr1 not only opens up a world of electric and acoustic sounds, a tour Peavey modeled amplifier history is at your fingertips; I can experiment with my own practice sessions. Bottom line...its a lot of fun. Shipped promptly, Packed well, the Vypyr I looks fantastic. Plus the CD included with the amplifier allows me to adjust all controls on the amplifier from my computer screen using USB connected Viper Edit software. I don't need to get up and adjust the settings. This means I can take on-line lessons and fiddle with my amp all at my computer station. The earphone port is great for safe quiet time practicing...then when you get the licks and riffs down...have a blow out. At a great price Vypyr 1 is a definite buy in my book. Mike

Well i recorded a clean guitar ,set it on the bypass function and asked another very experienced player what he thought i was playing threw he said sounded like some 1,300 dallar or more Fender/ Marshal setup or something like that lol. I ran it out the headphone jack into an ART tube pre then into a TC electronic compressor peddle then into my Tascam recorder and i dare anyone to beat it with whatever they wanna try !! Very warm , clean, quite professional sounding. And that's playing a Peavey rapter... About a 100.00 guitar .

"one of the best amps i've ever used"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
plenty of sound modulation and options. good for a beginner and still practical for an expert. some of the best improvisations i had ever done were on this amp. i put it above the Line 6 Spider amps in terms of quality and variety. its also not hard to program.

I liked this amp when I first opened it. When I plugged in my guitar the sound was a little weak. I used an acoustic, so the electric may be different. One other thing was the manual was on disk and I cant get it open on my computer, so Im sort of upset about that. I am going to try a usb mic, but without the manual, Im not sure what mic to buy.
