"Good Option for Upgrading Your Tiny 15w Beginner Amp"

I bet this will last me at 20 years. I have a Peavey Backstage Plus that has lasted 18 years and still sounds good with a decent distortion pedal. Peavey puts out quality products in my experience. If I ever play bigger venues and need a bigger amp I may get an amp just for playing live but I don't expect to need to replace this for a long time.
Sound
I play mostly classic metal (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc.) and thrash (Slayer, Testament, etc.) along with CDs in my basement but I wanted something that I could jam with or play small gigs (VFW?)if I got a group together. This amp has good overall sound. The clean channel is great. The distortion on the lead channel leaves something to be desired because it is kind of muffled - can't get enough Highs to make it great. But it is better for metal than on the overdrive channel on the Marshall MG series which only gives you a classic rock sound. Actually, I bought this to replace a Marshall MG50DFX, which I didn't like at all. Marshall's good for tube but I think Peavey is the best for solid state. I have a Kramer Focus 1000 with a Seymour Duncan Distortion Humbucker and a Jackson DKMG with EMG-HZ Humbuckers that I run through a BOSS ME-50 multi-effects board into the clean channel. I can get any sound I want this way so the amp is mostly there to provide a speaker and volume. It has more volume than I need and can get very loud. Putting any louder than 1 is usually too much for the environment I use it in. I think it has enough power to use live in smaller venues.
Features
The footswitch for the channels and the reverb is not included. To swtich channels you have to flip a toggle on the control board. The external speaker jack disengages the amp speaker when you are running a line to a larger speaker, which makes it hard to use for direct line-in digital recording. Each channel has a switch for a modern or vintage sound, which is kind of like providing two extra channels. Vintage mode offers more treble less bottom. Modern is reverse. No headphone jack. There is an effects loop but my effects sound terrible when patched through the loop. I have to run my instrument through the effect and plug the effects into the High Gain input. No annoying cooling fan! Good reverb and T-Dynamics control (function as a compressor).
Quality
Very solid, yet light-weight. I wouldn't worry about using this amp live in a small setting.
Value
Best amp available in its price range for overall sound quality and power. Especially compared to the Marshall MG series. Just look at the features as extras that you can use if you want. The footswitch should be included for the price but you don't really need it if you are using effects pedals through the clean channel.
Manufacturer Support
Because I have never needed it.
The Wow Factor
The new design with the thin red stripe is pretty cool. Attractive control panel.

"A wonderful Amp!!!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I have had this amp for 7 years and never had a problem with it. I am now in the market for a new "bigger" amp and am really having a hard time finding something with more bang that sounds better and is more versital. The more I play new amps in the store, the more I realize how great this amp has been for me.
Sound
I play a Lite Ash (Korean)strat and a Epiphone LP 100 (les paul). Both sound great through this amp
Features
I didnt get a footswitch, so I have to stop and switch with the right hand while playing. the 3 distortions sound very good. the vintage is very tube amp Eric Clapton (in Cream)sounding, and the modern is very death metal and agressive. So it covers all of my range of playing.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use, just plug it in, HAHAHA. But really it is simple and sounds GREAT for the money.
Quality
My only problem was that the handle came off on one side. I have never had a single problem or glitch with it.
Value
Great SS sounds at a very good price.

The Wow Factor

Well, all of the above must add up to a ten, Perfect sound, Tons of features, even a baby could get some distorted sound out of this amp, The amp that could survive WW2, The model of the best amp company, It costs about $495 aus (CHEAP!), And it looks great so the big 10 is the score!
Sound
THe sound is (sic). Really, u can sound from jimi hendrix to mick thompson by just pressing a few buttons. 65 watts also means small gigs can easily be handled.
Features
seperate inputs,(high gain and low gain) clean channel with low, mid, high and moder/vintage switch, and the lead channel with post gain, vintage/moder/high gain, low, mid, high and pre gain. Also included with reverb and volume. Deserves a 10
Quality
Gee's, u could chuck this amp of the moon and u could still shatter some windows the next day with its power. Very solid biuld, try kicking it, you'll break ya toe!. 10!
Value
Well some mesa boogie amps have half the options of this amp and are sold for over $1000 so this is a great deal. Has to be a 10.

"4 years of Experience with this Peavey Studio Pro 112"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This amp will last a very long time but the quality put in the product and the brand name peavey. No complaints there...lol
Sound
Two different channels, a clean sound, and lead (distortion). I was disappointed in the clean sound because it was kind of dry sounding. I have to switch to the neck pick up to get a better sound. I love the lead channel though! Get any sound your looking for with the metallica distortion and i can get the jimmy page classic led zeppelin sound. Also is included is a reverb and tdynamics. When the reverb is turned up i get a loud humming noise that can be avoided by turning the sound up.
Features
I use a Digitech GNX 3 so the effects is nice to have. In clean you can switch to either modern or a vintage sound with a 3 band eq. In lead you get vintage, modern, and high gain. 3 band eq (low, mids, high)
Quality
I give a 6 because i have had this amp for 4 years and paid oringally $400 at a local music store. Being the young unexperienced guitar player i decided to buy it. There are several amps out there that give you twice the watts and twice the effects. Crate and Fender is just 2 examples
Value
Again not this best amp for the money. Only 65 watts, which can cause very high screeching when you have above halfway the potential power. So your getting 30 watts that are clean sounding.
Manufacturer Support
Comes with a warranty haven't needed any support though
The Wow Factor
I already own it so read above for details
