I bought these drums because the kit I play most of the time is a Pearl Reference 7 piece kit with a 3 sided Icon rack. I love my Reference kit but sometimes I want a smaller kit for a quick practice or a small stage.....And these drums are exactly what I was looking for. The thin maple shells remind me of my old Masters MMX drums ( sound wise ) I would suggest to anyone who purchases these to order a set of heads with it. I like either a clear emperor or a pinstripe on the toms. The bass drum heads are Chinese P3's and the bass drum sounds great. I have a black chrome Pearl Chad Smith snare drum that I am going to play with this kit and turn the one that came with it into a back up. The drums are everything I expected.....I have been playing for about 50 years and this is my 4th Pearl kit …..And they are everything I expected!!!!Great kit and under $500.00...They certainly aren't my Reference kit but they were $5,000.00. This will make a great back up or small venue kit!!!!!
