These drums have a sound that is very, very nice. Warm, round, and full. And, the wood hoops really crack and make this baby sing! I have played numerous high-end snare drums such as Brady, Odery, Sonor, and vintage Gretsch and Slingerland, and this drum's tone is right up there in quality. Tuned high it is funky yet still warm, and tuned low it has a fantastic growl and depth. A very well made drum. When I played the it I used a Remo FiberSkyn FA for the batter side and it was big and fat! The drum sounds very nice with the stock head as well. It would be a great live drum as well or a real "go to" recording snare – my next purchase for sure.
