Incredible looks, tone, playability, and one heck of a price for it ll. I find no flaws in this guitar. It plays and feels like a $5000 PRS hollowbody. This will sell like hot cakes. And I love that I can make payments on it with zZounds.

I can't say enough about how pleased I am with this guitar. Fit and finish are superb. Sounds great, feels great. I'm left wondering how a core HBII could be much better. 85/15 pickups are fantastic. All the way around this is incredible. zZounds shopping was great too. Shipped immediately, arrived a day earlier than forecast in fact. I'm thrilled with this purchase.

For those wondering--- the differences between PRS SE Hollowbody II & PRS SE Hollowbody Standard: HBII: Maple front and back with mahogany sides F holes are bound $100 bucks more expensive... $1129.00 price (at the time of writing this) HB Standard: Mahogany front and back with mahogany sides F holes are not bound $100 bucks cheaper... $1029.00 price (at the time of writing this) The main things to take away from this is that while both guitars are going to sound darker and more bass heavy than a solid body guitar will, the HBII will sound brighter than the standard. The HBII has a slightly more neutral tone profile (leans more towards the treble side of the sound spectrum than the standard) and you can actually tell the difference since it is more apparent with hollowbody and acoustic guitars. What does this mean for you as a potential consumer? Well first of all, rolling the tone knob back slightly on the HBII will make it resemble the standard almost exactly. Of course, with an EQ pedal you can get both guitars to sound just about however you want from a straight guitar into amp perspective. However, I would suggest people pick up the HBII over the standard simply because the HBII can easily sound like the standard by adjusting the tone knob... whereas the standard will need an EQ pedal or some tinkering on your amp EQ to get it to have the brightness of the HBII. Also, IMO the extra $100 bucks for the bound F holes is worth it IMO it looks much cleaner especially on medium to lower end guitars such as this where unbound sound holes will often have a rough finish I own both guitars and will sell the standard simply because I do not need it any more, not that it is bad in any meaningful way. Now back to the review of the Hollowbody II: The fit and finish for a guitar near the $1k price point is quite good. The only real nitpicks I had was a couple of the frets could have used a bit more polishing and there were some small cosmetic defects on the body itself; one paint imperfection on the side, near the top about a cm long and a couple small blemishes on the front... but you really have to look hard. I would say the main selling point for this guitar would be the pickups. They sound amazing and seem to be quite versatile. The real sweet spot for me is the neck pickup with some overdrive or distortion... it pairs very well and manages to stay articulate and not mushy as some neck pickups do on other guitars. Another thing I quite like about this guitar is the neck. It is quite substantial, wide and thick but at the same time very comfy and I would say ergonomic. This lends itself to more of a rhythm players guitar and those that like to do lots of different chording's... still it certainly can be used for lead purposes as well. Of course, things like neck feel are very subjective but these are my thoughts coming from someone who all my previous guitars have thinner and less chunky necks. It feels more like a 60’s Fender neck. Something I don’t usually care for are painted necks which this guitar does have, but it still feels really good and is plenty fast, I still would have preferred a natural neck with a satin finish if I had to be picky. The 3-way switch feels solid enough, it doesn’t exactly feel super high end but seems like it will last. The volume and tone knobs are quiet and provide the perfect amount of resistance. Some guitars have the problem of the knobs spinning too easy which can be annoying when playing. The guitar came setup to a level of about 90% percent right out of the box. I changed to my preferred strings, had to intonate two of those strings and also oil the fretboard as it came quite dry. But the nice thing was the frets came nice and level and the neck had a slight amount of relief and the guitar came setup with what I would consider low action with no fret buzz anywhere. For a guitar of this price, I am very pleased. I’ve bought Fender’s and Gibson's over 3 times this price that required much more work form the get go. If you’re looking for a good all-around guitar near the $1k price point I would say that this is one of the better options. I’d say it is a better value than Fender’s Player Plus series. The player plus series has sweet pickups IMO but these PRS pickups go punch for punch. The one thing the player plus series has over this is locking tuners but the plus series is also slightly more expensive... and PRS locking tuners can be had for around $90 bucks if you insist on having them. I would say if you can stand to spend close to a grand on a guitar and you’re looking for a hollowbody than I would fully recommend this guitar. If you’re not too sure if you want a hollowbody and have little experience with them it might be worth getting an Epiphone 335 or something similar at about half the cost to see if the sound is what you’re looking for. However, be aware that the pickups in the Epiphones can’t compete with this. I also dare say this guitar body and head look better than Gibson/ Epi style. Hopefully this helps anyone on the fence. Peace

So I’ve played mostly Gibson and Fender the last 45 years. Great stuff , but then I recently bought one of these PRS Hollowbodies because in my mind it made sense. Light and responsive, cool looks and all reviews looking positive. Man I was pretty impressed with the thing when I got it and a couple hours of playing.Sounds terrific unplugged and so sweet plugged in. The neck feel is perfect for me - I just want to keep playing it! Never imagined I would like this guitar not being a PRS fan but I am a convert for sure
