I just got in my Lake Blue 10th Anniversary S2 Custom 24 today, and after being patient and waiting the prescribed 3 hours to let the guitar acclimate to the temperature inside my house versus outside, I got to open her up. This guitar is everything that a PRS should be. A little background about me, I've been playing for the better part of 28 years and in that time have owned Gibson USA, Gibson Custom, Ibanez Prestige, PRS CE from the 90's (still have one), PRS Core (still have two), and other PRS S2 (semi-hollow isn't for me with the what I play, and likewise for the 594 single cut). This, however, is everything I expect out of a PRS Custom 24. With the factory upgrades to these, you'd have to be silly to spend twice as much for a Core Custom 24.Here's the good - Cosmetically flawless, flawlessly finished frets and nut, perfect setup, great tone, and it just makes you want to play. This guitar 100% is the equal of my 10 top Core 35th Anniversary Custom 24. Literally the only way to tell them apart is by looking at them and feeling the necks in hand. This has a very comfortable Pattern Thin neck where my Core has a Pattern Regular. The Bad - There isn't anything bad for the end user especially when comparing to a Core level instrument. This literally gives you the Core experience and tone for half the price, so the bad is really only for the business model at PRS...if an S2 is this good, why buy a Core? The ugly, nothing is perfect and as with my previous S2 guitars, my gripe is purely for cosmetics, I'm not a fan of the control cavity cover and trem cavity cover not being recessed flush with the body like on my older CE and my Core guitars. It's a really nit picky complaint though. Dollar for dollar, you can't beat these. Get one while you can.
