So, ive been playing guitar on and off for a few years now, own a few epiphones, a few fenders. Have played many others. And the quality on this guitar blows most all out of the water. Beautiful finish, plays super smooth, electronics are fantastic. Came setup perfectly. No complaints. Many tone options with the coil tapping option. Inlays are amazing. My favorite guitar i own to date.

I'd written an earlier review, that I intended to update. After the update, we were going to remove the 'poor' review. All of this was done of my own volition. Forward a few months later. I'm finally getting to update the review. And, the old one is gone.Oh well.. Back to the heart of the matter. The guitar! I've been playing for close to 40 years. It's a shame I don't play any better. I did have a few year period where I was playing gigs several times a month. Now, I spend most of my time writing, recording and playing with a couple of friends. All of this is just to give you an idea that my review does have some experience behind it.I have owner some very inexpensive guitars (Celebrity, no name classical pawn shop model, Stella and a parts Strat) and some high end guitars (Ransom Strat, Fender DeLuxe Plus Strat, Gibson Les Paul Custom 1977) and others. After a resolving a couple of minor adjustments, this PRS hangs with the best of them! The nut came from the factory with some sharp leading edges (fretboard side), the fret edges had some minor burrs, the neck had too much relief and the nut was slotted for 9's. 10's and above will not work. After a small amount of sanding on the nut, a very small amount of filing the string spacing, neck relief adjustment and a little steel wool on the edges of the frets and BAM! A great feeling, sounding and looking guitar! These are an incredible value at this price point. The finish and overall aesthetic are beautiful. Easy to sit and appreciate all of its' features. You can get a wide range of tones from the two pickups, 3 notch blade switch and volume and tone pots. (One small thing - the tone pot has a severe drop off about a quarter of the way down. It's no big deal, the eq on the amp is the more important tonal setting) It plays beautifully. After the adjustments, I have the action fairly low. No buzzing or other nasty behaviors. The pickups are great. I had thought I might want to upgrade them, but I'm very happy as things stand. So, I ended up with a gorgeous instrument that plays great and provides a wide tonal palette. Korea is putting out some fine instruments!

Musical Background:

I've had this guitar for about two months now and I can say that I really love it. Really great sound, and a very elegant design. My friends come over just to play it. The split pick up is awesome, and the body has a convenient dip which makes it easy to reach those hard to reach notes at the end of the fretboard. I also have a Fender Strat, and I prefer playing the PRS, just has a great feel to it.

Through the years I have owned several high end guitars. Some good and others fair. My new PRS SE Custom 24 30 Anniversary inspires me to want to play not having to fight the guitar. Plays like butter and I can get just about any sound I want from it. I have the vintage sunburst and it is Beautiful and flawless. In my opinion PRS Guitars are with out a doubt the best guitar available.

Musical Background:

I have been playing for over 40 years. I play Keyboard, violin, 5 string banjo, bass guitar. played professionally

"PRS. Simply the best!"

I just bought this PRS SE amethyst from zZounds and received it today. First off zZounds is the best! The reason for the review is that I have to tell everyone how great this guitar is. To begin, I've been playing guitar for years but must admit I'm average at best. I simply love to play! Now as to the PRS SE. It is unbelievabley good. It's hard to believe the quality for the price. Don't let the fact that it's made in Korea cause any concern. PRS' quality control is amazing. I bought the Amethyst 30th anniversary and just recieved it this week. I can't put it down. I have looked it over front to back, top to bottom and can't find a single thing wrong. The setup out of the box was perfect. It was actually in perfect tune! The action is low which I love. It stays in tune regardless of use of the tremlo! I currently own an Ibanez with a Duncan JB in bridge and 59 in neck, Jackson dinky(dk2) made in Japan with active EMG's, MIM strat with Klein pickups, 2 MIM tele's with vintage pups, Dean with Dimarzio pups, epiphone with Gibson pickups and a seagull rustic entourage acoustic. The build quality of my PRS blows them all away and I have to say the Jackson and my Tele's are also quality builds. As far as the sound, the PRS is clearly the winner. The PRS has the stock pickups that came in it! As you can see I almost always upgrade the pickups as soon as I buy a new guitar. I will not change these. I have never played a core PRS. I can only imagine what they must sound like! Many people compare Epi Les Paul's with the PRS SE. I have played many Epiphones. They don't come close to the PRS! I would even say the SE sounds better than the Gibson Les Paul studios I've played. I honestly can't believe I waited this long to buy my first PRS. It won't be my last. I doubt I will ever buy anything but PRS from this point forward! If you aren't sure about buying one, don't hesitate. Go play one at your local music store. You will know why they are considered the best! I would say they are easily comparable if not better than any guitar costing 2 to 3 times as much.

Musical Background:

Been playing guitar my whole life but not a pro. Pretty average player but love playing !

Musical Style:

Hard rock, heavy metal (thrash etc...), some country
