It is a replacement as mentioned. I have had a lot of guitars this ones a "Keeper". currently I have two Gibsons, a Les Paul / and a early Rockbass. A Aria Bass accoustic/electric And my new CU247 Ovation. I have had and played CF Martin D-28, 1957 Les Paul Goldtop, Guild 512 series 12 string, Gibson Humming bird jumbo concert, Gibson Viola Bass (ala Paul McCartney)and many others. The CU247 Replaces a 1972 Ovation Custom Balladier
Sound
I do not think that the sound quality of the Ovation CU247 can be improved upon. The early seventies Ovations are the Standard for comparison by every major Guitar maker including CF Martin, Gibson, Guild of which I have owned. The sound for the price is unbeatable.
Features
The onboard tuner on th CU247 Ovation is fantastic to say the least. Controls of the EQ are easy to use and offer a wide range of control. The combination of components works very well for me, and the easily adjusted EQ is great during performances.
Quality
Nothing needs to be said about Ovation Guitars durability.
Value
Truly a best value in mid to upper price range guitars.

The Wow Factor
The CU247 was a replacement due to theft situation. I was drawn to it with many others in site, just couldn't take my eyes away. Love at first sight I guess. The appeal is that you HAVE TO HOLD AND PLAY IT 24/7. The appeal rapidly turns to "ADDICTION" before you relize it, and thats what has happened to me!

"stunning sound and finish"
I cannot point at any guitar in this pricerange with these qualities.
Sound
It has an awesome bright and crispy sound, but still with a surprising amount of "body" - even without pluggin it in.
Plugged in, it openes yet another world of great sound.
Features
the builtin tuner is brilliant, and super easy to use.
Ease of Use
it has a great feel to it. It is my first Ovation, and I'm amazed at the amount of vibration you get into your body - very nice.
Quality
Have only owned it for 2 months, but for now it cetainly feels excellent, - nothing substancial to improve on.
I wish the tuner could be turned off manually, rather than having to wait for it to auto-shutoff though.
The factory fitted strings went dead quite quickly, but I always expect that and soon change to my own preference anyway.
Value
with a price around 450 USD I can only sum it up in one word: stunning!
